Annibach I wasn’t trying to make it just about my daughter and her colleagues. I used it as an example in an attempt to highlight that while the test kits are extremely scarce they should be spared for those who are giving their all for the sake of the rest of us. And no I absolutely would not object to supermarket staff being tested if there were test kits available. They most certainly should take precedence over Prince Charles. While the test kits are scarce they should not be used on people who are not key workers. I didn’t say I object because of PC’s wealth. But he is safe and cared for where he is and testing him makes no difference to that. Those 2 tests could have been used to facilitate key workers in hospital/GP/food and drug production and distribution/ teachers who are still in schools with kids of the aforementioned Key workers to get back to work sooner than they currently can if they or anyone in their household has symptoms. I’m not looking at it from a wealth and privilege point of view. We have to try to look after those we need to look after us and keep us alive. I just don’t see PC and Camilla in that category

I so wish all who work in hospitals could be tested today but

Annibach Sorry but I disagree. The 2 people in question had no need to use 2 extremely scarce test kits. PC reportedly has symptoms so mild is continuing to work from home. Camilla has no symptoms. They are isolated in a mansion with their private doctor and a team of household staff to look after them. There was no need for them use scarce NHS test kits. The testing has no bearing on their outcome. Which I sincerely hope will be a full recovery. They should be spared for essential cases.
My daughter is working herself into the ground along with her nursing colleagues in an acute hospital. One of their team, who is desperately needed and wants to be at work, was sent home last week for 14 days isolation because her husband has a cough and fever. She has zero symptoms. If a test was available for her she could return to the frontline and get on with trying to keep patients alive and providing end of life care for those who sadly need it in large numbers. The situation is desperate.

It was explained on the Prime Minister's briefing last night: the testing kits are urgently needed in vast numbers worldwide, not just in the UK. There is difficulty in supply of some of the components which has delayed the process. There is no deliberate holding back, why on earth would there be?

They are manufacturing kits as fast as possible. A new virus so the testing kits were not sitting in a warehouse waiting.

There is also a new one which is imminent, a home kit to tell if you have had Covid-19 and now have antibodies in your system.

My family are thankfully not bad enough for hospital.
Others have more to worry about.
I'm sure you Grannynannywanny worry constantly for your daughter as do others with family in the frontline. It must be so difficult for them going to work each day seeing the effects of this dreadful virus and living with the fear of being infected. I really don't know how they continue to do it. They are so brave and caring.

I don't wish him ill but I am not wasting any time worrying about him when there are many, many people who are much more seriously affected by this virus - in all sorts of ways that members of the royal family would have no understanding of whatsoever.

Nurses and doctors have been unable to be tested for the virus and some may be self isolating who have no need to do so. Yet Charles is tested. My neighbour had a very serious bout of pneumonia last year and was ill for weeks. Recently he developed symptoms of the Corona virus but, on reporting his symptoms, was just told that he should assume he had the virus and self-isolate - no test for him despite his medical history.

People who have fled or tried to flee to their second homes in less populated areas have been heavily criticised and perhaps rightly so. But Charles has done exactly the same thing. My understanding is he was already experiencing mild some symptoms before he and his wife departed for Scotland.

Maybe missadventure just maybe you've had the last word on this thread. Well posted ?

I'm listening to you. You must be so worried for your DD. Our Health service is doing an amazing job at keeping us safe .Give her my thanks for putting herself in danger for our people.

There are not enough tests as yet for the key workers but fingers x that will soon change so these brave people can get on with their important jobs.

I fully support the testing of the frontline staff first and foremost above any individual and his wife As it stands at the moment you can only be tested if you are seriously compromised and are admitted to hospital as I understand it. Hopefully that will change
I hope anyone who contracts this virus comes out the other side and then they can help everyone else. I wish them well whoever they are

Charles hosted a dinner for The Princes Trust after Commonwealth Service

By & large I have boycotted the news today, except this morning. This morning the headline brief was that PC started feeling unwell on Monday, after he had arrived; on advice to relocate all senior members of the RF; in Scotland on Sunday. If that is true nobody, including him, knew he had the virus.
This morning the news was that none of his staff had demonstrated symptoms. Camilla was tested & hasn't got it so as far as I am aware his staff do not have it and therefore not spreading it into the community. Symptom free does not mean his staff don't have it though so it is possible. The news I saw also said he was tested because a) he had been in contact with someone who had been diagnosed with the virus, b) his last public engagement was the service in Westminster and there were many public figures etc there and c) the Queen was also at the service. A case of a lot of people who could now be infected and they could have infected many more.
It is absolutely appalling that front line staff are not being tested ?. How can that be reasonable, fair or in any way justifiable? It can't be, it's inexcusable.
There is a case, however for PC to be tested but not because he is a member of the RF but because of the number of others who are potentially affected and if it is the case that each infected person is likely to infect another 2 or 3 people the number who may be infected doesn't bear thinking about. Not all of these people will be privileged either.

He reportedly has mild symptoms and was already self isolating and the Queen was already in isolation at her residence. He’s either passed it on inadvertently or he hasn’t. They can rest at home and wait and see. And I sincerely wish them well. The impact on front line health workers who are denied testing is incalculable

It has to be accepted, the death of the Queen or Charles at this
time , sad as it is for anyone but the country and the government and the commonwealth would have big, big problems

Of course he had to be tested as he has been in contact with the Queen. Like it or not she is the queen and he is heir apparent. Life isn’t fair, as most of us know at our age.

Anyone with this disease has my sympathy, especially anyone over 70. It could be any of us next.

Surely it would be common sense that tests should be on those at the absolute front line.

They, along with self isolation are our best hope of dealing with this virus.
