to think that perhaps we should be more tolerant of fellow posters?

I have just read a thread where a person has told a previous poster that they 'sound like a six year old'
I won't go into details of that particular thread, but none of us really know how others are feeling. There have been several comments on other threads slamming people down.
We are going through a very strange period of history at the moment and I'm sure many Gnetters are scared, alone and feeling vulnerable.
Some I'm sure are coping well, others not so well.
Feelings can easily be hurt, so please, let's all think twice and perhaps, if we can't say something nice say nothing at all?

Anniebach I remember coming over to Wales in about 1968 (our belated honeymoon I think) and the Welsh Nationalists had turned all the signposts round at crossroads. We saw some lovely unexpected places.

Callistemon
Don’t go now will you the road to Bala is blocked!

Not unusual really because it inevitably is at the start of the holiday season anyway

Callistemon Sun 29-Mar-20 12:13:37

I never thought I'd live here one day, not near Bala though, May7

Anniebach there’s a place in Scotland not far from me called Lost. Their road signs are always getting lost when people pinch them. grin

I thought Lost was in France?

Bonnie Tyler thought so anyway
'Lost in France'

ValerieF Sun 29-Mar-20 17:20:26

Lost is definitely a place near the Cairngorms - near my home town. Not much there mind, not even people. Just bonnie countryside.

Callistemon Sun 29-Mar-20 19:11:06

There must be two!

Callistemon Sun 29-Mar-20 19:12:01

Besides the hundred or so in Wales because no-one understands the Welsh signposts

Anniebach Thu 02-Apr-20 15:43:37

Callistemon true ?

May7 Thu 02-Apr-20 21:05:52

Except of course for the Welsh speakers who they are actually designed for grin

Callistemon Thu 02-Apr-20 22:41:31

But the majority who live in Wales don't speak Welsh yet!

May7 Thu 02-Apr-20 22:43:49

Yep your right confused

Chewbacca Thu 02-Apr-20 22:44:36

But they will do in another generation Callistemon. Welsh language lessons in all schools now.

Callistemon Thu 02-Apr-20 22:52:56

Don't I know it, Chewbacca
grin
I could learn with U3A and surprise the DGC with my impressive knowledge. If it was similar to Latin or even German I would, although I do think fenestra is Latin too.
Anniebach may know

A bit like making jokes about black people being thieves and Irish people being thick... I'm both and neither.

welbeck Wed 15-Apr-20 17:48:12

i'm beginning to see why some DILs have problems.
attitude seems to be, i can be as offensive as i like, and it's you that is wrong for taking offence.

Chewbacca Wed 15-Apr-20 18:14:53

Have you got the right thread welbeck?

Anniebach Wed 15-Apr-20 18:51:48

Excuse me sign posts in Wales are in Welsh because the names
of towns and villages are in Welsh , people looking for Dowlais
would be lost if the sign post read - black stream ? ???????

Chewbacca Wed 15-Apr-20 19:31:03

Ah ond mae'r Saeson yn hawdd eu drysu! Anniebach grin

Callistemon Wed 15-Apr-20 19:50:43

Well I'm confused
May have to ask a DGC!!

Yes, but my address comes up as Welsh on some sites and I don't think our postman does that.
Or the sorting offices in England.
