To ask how Carers are doing with COVID19?

Apart from the social isolation, I am finding getting an online supermarket delivery slot to be nigh on impossible. I am brewing a peculiar mix of awe at what people are doing, endurance to see this through & frustration as I cannot get out for enough fresh air & a walk. Our local Mutual Aid volunteers are wonderful but I am loathe to bother them - turns out I am not good at being cared for! Fellow local carers & through online forums say they are finding everyday caring to be challenging - worries about loved ones they care for, care workers & home helps providing care, services stretched even further than ever, getting supplies alongside their concerns for their own health & much more.

How are you doing?

I also did the Carers UK survey. It took me 15 minutes to do.
It asked sensible pertinent questions with opportunity to comment further.

If you have the time to share how you are getting on, here’s the Carers UK survey about the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on unpaid Carers:

The survey closes tomorrow Monday 13 April 2020.

It’s important that carers are heard, as we risk becoming invisible as priorities are shuffled daily, & we are all too often taken for granted. Please let fellow carers know about the survey.

It is pretty lonely. My husband had a bad fall yesterday and I did feel the full weight of responsibility. It's part of life but the best I can do is to keep busy, keep going. I have been able to get delivery slots as Waitrose seem to have flagged me up as vulnerable, which I suppose I am. You really have to keep trying at odd times plus contact the supermarket to let them know. Local firms are doing deliveries too and the local Facebook page had been excellent for finding information. DH is fine this morning btw!

Granny we have found Iceland really useful for my parents, it is easier to get deliveries than the other supermarkets flowers

Galaxy Iceland has come up a few times, so I'm bookmarking this.

There is an army of volunteers offering assistance with shopping etc - maybe check f/book or contact your local council to see what is available in your area?? There are also people acting as a "listening ear" to those encountering loneliness/isolation. Hope things improve for you soon. x
