Jane10, I think two or three weeks is a better timescale. First, there's the (variable) incubation period, then worsening of Covid in the second week with possible hospital admission and testing - then possibly death. Here' what the Telegraph says:

I have just seen that lady on the news, she said she was annoyed because people were not social distancing, and it was like being in Tesco.
I dont think she realised that she was there too and from the look of the entry in and out of the beach it was impossible to social distance.

I saw the lady on the news sitting in the sun on the beach having travelled to get there and complaining about so many other people being there. She said it was like being at Tesco's. My dh and I just looked at each other, didn't she realise she was one of the people she was complaining about!!

Apart from picking up meds at the pharmacy and a visit to a hospital appointment dh and I have barely been out in the last 8 weeks. Here in NI we haven't started any easement yet.

We do a local walk for just under one hour tramping on concrete and social distancing. The concrete isn't half hard on the soles of the feet, regardless of my top quality podiatry insoles.

At home I can see my younger granny neighbour who works in the care sector have regular visits from her son and daughter and their respective children. Hugs all around out at the cars when they arrive and leave. It does make me cross when I see our other sensible neighbours, older like ourselves, keeping to the rules and who like ourselves would love to see their families and grandchildren.

There is now no limit on the distance you can drive, as long as you don't spend the night, and you are allowed to have a picnic with your own household. Social distancing to be maintained with anyone outside your household, and you can only meet one person from another household, on your own.

There are lots of contradictions, but there was nothing wrong in going to the beach per se.

If there's an increase in infections in a week to ten days we'll know that it was a mistake to loosen the lockdown. If there isn't then it's reasonable to loosen up even more. ☺️

Callistemon the tide goes out so far at Weston-s-Mare, that it's very easy to have people from Wales there and they'd hardly need to roll up their trousies !

I think I"ve said a few times this week that although numbers of the restrictions here in France have been lifted (and I'm in a safer Green Zone), if I go out I soon get angry because of the way that just some of the people behave. They are determined that "rules are for other people". When you have that level of stupidity, it wouldn't take much to very quickly push up the infection numbers again! We complain about the stupid and risky behaviour that we see.....wonder what happens with what we can't see. For example, hand washing?! It's quite worrying.

It really doesn't help that the government seem to be sending mixed messages. Even switching the border on their podiums from red for stop to green for go. Masses of people now going back to work where they can see work colleagues all day but not socialise with them afterwards. I don't really know how people are expected to feel when they can put themselves "at risk" for the economy but not to give a loved one a hug. Personally despite still working I have respected the rules but it is not easy and not good for my mental health. I would love for just a few hours of "normal" at the beach.

I had a zoom meeting with my DDs today. In the background I saw one of the girls' father in law (who does not live with them) strolling around chatting to her OH and my DGC. I was seething with rage, but bit my tongue. Stupid arrogant b*****d! If one of my loved ones gets ill...................

Makes me sick.

The abject stupidity of too many of our fellow citizens does explain the nonsense of brexit.

The good news is that the parks and countryside within walking distance were deserted today. Everyone had gone to the coast with Simone.

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, some people seem to think that ALL restrictions have been lifted!

And at risk of being shot down, I think that as (has been reported) the average reading age in the U.K. is below 12 Although I find that hard to believe, Gov. directives need to be clearer, although even that probably won't work, and making them into "rules" probably won't either, seeing as one person has already been fined 9 times!

I think that some of this behaviour may be due to the rather woolly messages that have been sent out.

Yesterday I saw one member from the household next door out walking round the village with 5 members of her family that live elsewhere, no social distancing at all.

Guessing that she only "heard" the bit about being ok to meet up with family, not that the numbers were limited and that distances should still be observed!

I've just seen her on the news. Didn't she think everyone else would have the same idea.

A friend of mine posted a photo of a road in her village which was lined both sides with cars. There is a woodland walk to a waterfall nearby.

Today the local council have chained up the gate and attached a notice telling the public why.

It is a tragedy that we have so many stupid people in this country

Today our neighbours son had a group of his friends round.
Our other neighbours,aged 80 and 72 who are supposed to be shielding had a barbecue for friends.I was furious.They have everyone running round doing their shopping and then had their garden full of friends today,no social distancing.
They seem to be interpreting the rules to suit whatever they want to do on any particular day.?

Not a day goes past without posts on here from people visiting other households , seeing multiple people , sitting in gardens with them , meeting AC and their GC in parks ... Have I missed something? I thought it was ‘one to one ‘ in a public space ?

The percentage of stupid people in this country does explain a lot about the politics of recent years.

I went to the supermarket and 60% of prople there were not keeping to social distancing guidelines. People aren't doing it everywhere.

I just heard my MIL's relations travelled from preston to Lanarkshire for a funeral...to say I'm angry is an understatement .These are SUPPOSED to be intelligent people .MIL didn't go because she in her 80's and numbers are limited but these eegits thought it was OK for them to come and get friends to put them up.I'm torn ,should I report them MIL says they would never speak to her again if I did ,but if I dont can I live with myself .My friend lost her 34 year old son from CV dont they know people are dying?

Unfortunately there are quite a lot of stupid people in this country.

Calm down, Phoenix dear. Have a bit of compassion - an hour and a half is quite a waste of anyone's time (not just poor Simone's!) to arrive at your fave place and then find that there are actually other people there as well.

Some people, sadly for the rest of us, don't get anything - because they don't want to, cos it doesn't suit them. I'm keeping away from my beach, just 5 minutes drive away, because we can't stop or sit down and we can't take our dogs. If we go.... as sure as God makes little green apples...There.Will.Be.Dogs.
