AIBU for thinking this a little over the top?

I'll give the powder and lipstick a miss when I make face masks.

I must admit I couldn't settle to sewing, knitting etc if there was a sinkful of dirty dishes.
Hooray for dishwashers!

I don’t think I have ever been “neatly put together” am I doomed?

Oopsadaisy3 Sat 23-May-20 09:00:24

That’s been my problem then, I’m too lackadaisical ...........sigh

So funny! Imagine your DH seeing you without putting in such effort with your appearance!!

Classic! I must pass that on to dds, to give them a good laugh!

I do remember some ‘advice to newly married women’ in a magazine ages ago, probably in the 60s.
Among other things they were told to ‘Line all your drawers with fresh paper every week.’ !

Aside from any ‘knickers’ hilarity, was such lining of drawers ever a thing? No wonder Fablon was popular - who else remembers that?

Oh that’s hilarious.

‘Put on a clean dress ...’

Priceless!
I have a couple of jobs waiting to be done on my sewing machine but they'll just have to wait till lockdown is over and I can get to the hairdresser's and be suitably coiffed... grin

I don't understand.
Surely everyone does this.... [confused}

Grammaretto Fri 22-May-20 18:40:42

Ha Ha Brilliant grin
so that's where I've been going wrong....

I'm sure if you could be bothered to read some of the C* in recent magazines the advice would seem just as weird.

My GOSH. What a lot of palaver! I usually sit and sew (cross stitch) while I'm watching telly. I don't think I am ever that put together when I sew! Hubby does not mind.

B9exchange Fri 22-May-20 18:29:55

You are not an idiot, that worked fine! If I had to follow those instructions, I don't think I would ever sew anything! grin

I bought a sewing machine from Lidl about five years ago and still don’t feel glamorous enough to start any sewing.

I wonder if this will work - I hope so, but I'm an IT idiot.

Advice for newly-weds from a magazine from 1949 (I'd have been around 10 years old) and my Mum had two of us to look after at the time ....
