To want a tattoo

I'd love a tattoo but at the tender age of 73 I don't know if I'd be able to suit one. My son Sherman thinks it is an awful idea for me to get a tattoo but I can't help feeling like I'm missing out. What are your opinions on tattoos? Should I go for it?

Do it! I've 4 and am having a 5th. There not tacky but apart of me that tell my story.
I'm 56 x

Hello, just a reminder to all that troll hunting is not allowed on Gransnet. If you have concerns please report them to us instead of making accusations on the thread. And please stop for a minute and consider how people may feel being accused of being a troll when they aren't. Thank you flowers

Have you seen the ones that look as if the skin is open with machinery inside? They're amazing, but horrible.

OceanMama Thu 08-Oct-20 23:24:54

The kind of tattoo I just don't 'get' is eyeball tattoos. I've never seen one in real life though.

I'd be frightened of infection.

I think I'll dye my hair purple instead.

I’ve always fancied one on my foot, may still do, but not how things are at the moment

Sorry I am actually chuckling at the full thread, my post sounds snippy and I didn't mean it to!

Of course the decision is yours and yours alone. I hate tattoos, all tattoos on all bodies, and all age groups, I've yet to see one to change my own opinion that they're a really bad idea.

EthelTheTank Thu 08-Oct-20 22:28:53

Tedd1, where would you get it?

Chewbacca Thu 08-Oct-20 22:17:44

Why not Tedd1? My son and DIL both had a small tattoo done and for some unknown reason were worried about telling me. I've no idea why because I firmly believe "your body, your choice". And when I saw them they were the smallest tats I'd ever seen! grin

I quite fancy a butterfly tattoo but couldn't deal with the family response

Dodgy Den’s down the dock, eh? Do they do discounts at dodgy dens down the dock, darling?

Chewbacca Thu 08-Oct-20 21:47:44

If you're going to have a tattoo, make sure you have no regrets. Like this chap does.....

I’ve got tattoos and love them, they’re not visible to anyone else, I got them done for myself, not for anyone else and who cares if someone thinks they are tatty. I used to do community care work and I’ve never forgotten how one lovely elderly lady said to me “ my mum can’t tell me what to do anymore and now I’m old I can do whatever I bloody well want” smile so If I were you Ethel I would go do whatever you want and have a lot of fun at the same time - Life’s too short not to smile

Go for it definitely

lemongrove Thu 08-Oct-20 20:19:01

Lisagran

^”Blue rinse and inked"^ Love it!

Perhaps lemongrove could open a tattoo parlour round the back of The Argy........

Can’t be done! Tattoo Terence who ran the tattoo parlour in
Gasworks Alley across the road is a good friend of The Argy until he retired to a bungalow in St Leonards recently. His son,
Tattoo Travis now runs it, and he eats lunch every day in our bar.It would be churlish to cause trouble ( not to mention, dangerous!)
I get my own tatts done at Dodgy Den’s down the dock.?
