Men wearing tights under shorts, AIBU

I've no problem with it whatsoever. Live and let live and all that......

Running leggings, both the male and female varieties, are very close fitting high tech garments these days and serve a purpose, as someone said upthread. Women tend not to wear shorts over them so I suspect with men it’s a modesty thing. Think male ballet dancers ?.

Tights and shorts ?
I know what the men round here would have to say about that.
We are dead hard up here, why else would we go clubbing in petticoats in the winter.

Why does is matter ? How do you know it’s tights not leggings?
It’s good to keep the muscles warm and it’s been so cold recently.
I’m in the north west and we don’t see many men running without tights or leggings under their shorts. Is this because we are mard in comparison with the lassies in the north east?

They can wear whatever they want to wear, surely? Does it matter at all? Really?

I doubt very much that the tights are woolly.

I'm not outraged but I think this is a very silly look. Tights and flapping shorts? Just daft. However, it's up to them what they wear. It's up to us what we think of them.

Agree about the Lycra. The cyclists who wear Lycra seem to be more aggressive and have more attitude than normal. Maybe it rubs them up the wrong way ??

YABU IMO, basically because it is not for you to be outraged by what others do unless it directly affects you. Perhaps it would be more reasonable to ask those that offend you why they wear this apparel.

Athletes try to keep their muscles warm. Perhaps the tights are for warmth and because they don't flap around, then the shorts (which you say are skimpy, so are not going to flap a lot) as a layer over the insulation and also because the tights on their own leave nothing to the imagination.

I think you are being unreasonable Alison seems like a sensible combination to me for all the reasons given by other posters.

Men in tights under uniforms for warmth I can understand and I can just about tolerate men in shorts! But, surely the flap of the shorts over the tights must increase the wind resistance when running?

Our Relative who was a Police Officer used to wear them under his uniform in the Winter when he was out on patrol. Yes we used to have police patrolling our streets in the good old days!

Yes you are a bit ! My son I seem to remember wore longish cycling shorts under his rugby shorts back in the day. Seems sensible.

My GS wears tights under his trousers sometimes. And he wears leggings a lot of the time. Much nicer looking than joggers.

When I worked in Spain, all the boys at school wore girls skinny jeans, because they were tighter than boys. My sole 17 year old Spanish student here wears eye wateringly tight jeans.
