Hi, I am having trouble sleeping after recently losing both of my elderly parents in quick succession ?.
Has anyone tried these weighted blankets? Do they work?

Shinamae Thu 13-Jan-22 22:59:34

And it’s just getting better and better. I slept right through last night, didn’t get up once even to go to the toilet, absolutely amazing….?

I'm really pleased to read that Shinamae as I am always raving about mine! smile

Over a week now and I have to say it has really improved the quality and quantity of my sleep ?

I was given one for Christmas. Huge improvement in my sleeping I’d recommend. I still can’t believe when I wake up that I’ve slept all night.

just taken delivery of 2 kuddly blankets hoping they will help my anxiety-prone DD to get a better night's sleep - got the 2 blankets for 89£ so thought I'd give them a try. if not can be returned within 30 days - fingers crossed! Now where is that sheet to put underneath...

that is good smile

Great news Shinamae. Very pleased to hear that.

Shinamae Thu 06-Jan-22 10:06:56

Have had it on my bed for three nights now, got a sheet in between because otherwise I would never be able to change the cover! Still taking me over an hour to get off to sleep. BUT once asleep I am sleeping right through! ???????????? So I would say definitely a good investment

My daughter has autism and we have found these pretty good. I have a funny story though, they accidentally delivered to a neighbour and I went round to fetch my parcel and she stood there talking to me and i thought bloody hell, I'm sweating, this is bloody heavy but carried on talking and started to feel a achy grin and when I got home realised I wasn't terribly unfit, it was just the weighted blankets!

I bought one for my SIL who has fibromyalgia, he says it’s greatly improved his sleep.

After first reading this post I decided to give one a try.
Probably a bit heavier than I need and double size. Quite amused that the Amazon box it came in had been opened- probably someone thought with that weight it must be worth stealing!!
I actually love it -it has stopped me tossing and turning during the night and although I wake up to use the loo as much I do go back to sleep more quickly! It does sometimes feel like I’m being held down but I would highly recommend it.

Well, it still took me more than two hours to actually get to sleep but once asleep I did sleep through.Early days yet and I do think the blanket was very expensive but hopefully it will prove it’s worth…?

MissAdventure Mon 03-Jan-22 22:36:50

I hope you manage to get out of bed in the morning. grin

Shinamae Mon 03-Jan-22 22:34:37

Just off to bed with much trepidation…?

My daughter had one at Christmas. I was surprised how heavy it is. Too heavy for me, though I do like a fair bit of weight. We have two single duvets, with a king sized heavy bedspread on top, but this was much heavier.

It doesn't feel too heavy once it's spread all over you.

I have just unpacked it and put it on my bed, blinking heck it is heavy so will be taking the advice of putting a top sheet under it as I cannot see me changing that very easily. Will be back tomorrow to report on how I slept…

PS. Shinamae Just a tip - as I have low energy and did not want to have to keep struggling to take the cover off to wash, I use a top sheet on my bed and put the weighted blanket on top of that, so I only need to change the sheet each week which saves faffing around.

Great idea, thank you so much ?

Sleep well Shinamae Zzzzz

My Koala blanket has arrived, just got to put it together now ?

Hetty58 Sun 26-Dec-21 22:44:08

Same as Sparklefizz, I have a Koala one, which I love. You need the largest size.

I adapted a double duvet cover as a spare cover for it - as I thought they were so expensive and I never use the warm velvet side.

I don't sleep any longer, but the quality of my sleep has improved. That's so valuable to me. I bought an Emma mattress last year (when they were on offer) and that was a good investment too.

This isn’t really an answer but many years ago when duvets were not “the thing” I used to have so many blankets on my bed because I felt I needed the weight. Took ages to make my bed. When duvets came in, my mum was thrilled but I sulked as felt they were too light. Didn’t want one. Then I got Married and we got a duvet. I got used to it and never looked back but I still Remember how I loved the weight of those blankets! So go for it, if it helps.

Thank you all for your comments and condolences. I don't like being hot in bed so not sure placing loads of blankets on top of each other will make me sleep lol. I will ponder on it. Happy Christmas everyone x

The weighted blanket doesn't actually make you hot. It's the weight that's soothing and calming.

Shinamae Thu 23-Dec-21 18:32:48

I have just ordered one from koala and it looks like I’ve got quite a good deal, fingers crossed it works for me as I am a very restless sleeper and hopefully this will help
