Seagull and pigeon poo

I had a problem with a section of the front of my house and the 'remains' of the birds that have been congregating at the top of the drainpipe.

I cleaned the areas I could reach, it came off quite easily.

Went online, found someone to come and clean it and disinfect it. Not the cheapest quote, but they spiked the areas the fowl had been congregating too.

Day after, in daylight, I've been outside and found that the area isn't actually that clean. There are still stains and some areas of poo.

I haven't paid yet and have messaged them, with photographs, to say I'm not happy. I'm not unreasonable, am I?

Not at all. You pay a professional to do a job, it should be done properly.

Your concern sounds reasonable to me, gagajo.

We had seagull poo on a car bonnet that took a layer of paint off! Clearly bird mess can be toxic and will cause staining which cleaning won't remove.
However, is the poo new? Are the spikes not effective? Certainly take them to task and pay when the gutter is clean and stays clean.

It's the brickwork too. Some does look new though. I scrubbed some areas myself Sunday, but there is more now. So maybe the spikes aren't working, although I did notice a disgruntled pigeon flapping up to the wall and away again yesterday.

Our local leisure centre uses spikes to dissuade pigeons. But still lots of birds and muck in places. Anyone know how dffective spikes are?

I'm glad I didn't have washing out first thing because the seagulls were swooping really low this morning. I've been lucky with the washing being out and being close to the sea because so far there haven't been any mishaps.
