Apparently it is the fashion to dress like a goddess at the moment.
Do any of you feel that you would want to dress like that.
The 50s films from America always had luxury clothes but now days we seem to want to dress down. Jeans, trousers trainers
which I wear a lot.

I’d like to say I was as goddess like as Mariella Frostrup. She looks so cool in wide leg mid calf brown cords. I look ridiculous.

Annodomini, like you I was never without ear rings. One of the many things ive let slide during lock down is not wearing ear rings daily, always with a change if I was going out in the evening

I'm embarrassed to say I wore my (1/2 price) Armani jacket into town this afternoon. Got caught in a downpour and ended up looking like Tempestas. Yes, a scary sight.

I always new yu wus posh!!
?

It snowed here today so Tempestas was here too!

This goddess is wearing a pair of quite old M&S cords, an even older M&S cashmere jumper and a LandsEnd down gilet. I have come to detest the term 'floaty' for clothes - such an airy-fairy word which makes me think the said outfits would be draughty and, in my case, probably get caught in the car door. ! I go for comfort all the way. In the days when I had to appear in the chair at meetings, I had a selection of jackets and coordinating tops, and never, ever without earrings!

I just think this idea that a goddess dresses in floaty outfits is a bit short sighted. Goddesses came in all sorts of guises and can be scarey!

No, I just looked up Barbour to see if she was a goddess ?

Duh!!

Barbour?
Is there a goddess called Barbour?

I thought I knew my gods and goddesses but perhaps not!

It's a Barbour jacket Callistemon21 Diana is the goddess- the huntress- dressed in the appropriate jacket.
But I think you knew that.

Callistemon21 Thu 24-Feb-22 20:15:43

Kali, leather outfit with studs, high heeled boots, tattoos and piercings (whip optional)!
We'd better respect Kali's posts ?

Suppose it depends on which goddess you are going for! Athena helmet hat, military style coat and knee length boots, Diana, Barbour jacket or gilet, trilby, cord trousers, walking boots and shotgun (optional) or perhaps other religions- Kali, leather outfit with studs, high heeled boots, tattoos and piercings (whip optional)!
Any others?

I have been known to return a mail order item on finding China on the label. I rarely buy clothes now but I refuse to support China.

Same, Germanshepherdsmum. It’s also my excuse for still, post-retirement, spending a lot of money on Margaret Howell, who I’m glad to say has a shirt factory in London.

BlueBelle Thu 24-Feb-22 19:50:13

What does a goddess dress like? I imagine flimsy sparkles that skim over the skin like a kiss
That s me
???

AreWeThereYet Thu 24-Feb-22 18:09:30

There's a reason goddesses lived in warm countries... I suppose I might pass as a Green Goddess at the moment

Millie22 Thu 24-Feb-22 17:32:28

I'm a goddess in jeans and a New Look top.

rockgran Thu 24-Feb-22 17:28:31

I dress like a goddess who is cold and cleaning the toilet.

Deedaa Thu 24-Feb-22 16:49:50

The film star I generally modelled myself on was Katherine Hepburn. Trousers and shirts! Currently wearing black jeans from Sainsbury and an M&S jumper made in Bangladesh.

Blossoming Thu 24-Feb-22 16:41:31

Sorry Farzanah didn’t realise you’d already mentioned them.

Sad to report that even Seasalt are now getting some things made in China. They do state the country of origin in the garment descriptions so you can avoid those.

Blossoming Thu 24-Feb-22 16:25:45

I am a Godess. I wear whatever I want to.

Kamiso Thu 24-Feb-22 16:18:55

I didn’t realise Woolovers had succumbed! Explains a lot. I decided some time ago to cut right down on buying clothes as I have more than enough and, over the last couple of years, nowhere to go!

I dress for comfort nowadays and for items I like rather than what others tell me I should like!

I had keyhole surgery on Tuesday so I am still wearing my nightdress. I might put my dressing gown on a bit later.

Farzanah Thu 24-Feb-22 16:17:48

It’s very tricky avoiding clothing made in China GSD. If you (are able to)check the supply chain of many high street names many use some Chinese manufacturers. Seasalt for example.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 24-Feb-22 16:08:21

Yes, Woolovers went right down in terms of quality - I just bin the catalogue when it (all too frequently) arrives.

I didn’t tell you how old said trousers and top are did I? But as I understand LE now have clothes made in China I won’t be replacing them.

Yes, they are.
As are Woolovers rubbish.
