I’ve been thinking (yes again) just how good it would be to have a ‘Like’ button against posts?

Sorry just thinking out aloud ??

Disagree that the response to your post is bullying. However, suggesting that a certain demographic should leave, could be construed as just that. ?

That's weird, Marydoll. I wouldn't construe that as bullying at all. Just someone being rude and ignorant. I'd ignore it.

Oh gawd, their trying it with me now too- yes i know mums get older, I'm a mum (and a gran) myself- and still doing everyday mum stuff as youngest still in college& at home- and yes i know we have MEN on here- but presumably these mums and men are also older eg 'granny's & grandads' ?-the mumsnet ones i was on about are the young ones- a fair few of them seem to flit across here to ask 'opinions' on their mothers or mothers in laws, (simply because they are disagreeing with what they want etc) and seem to want our 'opinion'- and then seem to stay on here haranguing decent older folk for airing their own views! Guess they think its easier or more fun to bully the oldies maybe as the younger folk on mumsnet etc have got wise to them? - THATS those i meant.Does that spell it out now that I'm not discriminating against men nor younger grans like myself.Good. As i said no need to say 'like' or 'dislike'. ??

Dear me, seems we have had a bit of 'haranguing' going on here today despite all this 'discussion' of bullying etc- see, i think a lot of it stems from the mindset of those on other forums, (e.g. facebook, mumsnet, snapchat, etc) all more 'cliquey' and aggressive than gransnet was ever intended to be.But thats just my opinion..you don't have to agree..or disagree...?I'm off to do something more boring & routine now, finish making sunday lunch. Bye Ladies...?

Er…. You were the one suggesting non grans shouldn’t be on here ! how’s that for bullying

And of course you’re off now. Standard.

I am not sure you understand the nature of MN, its bloody enormous its really difficult for a site of that size to be cliquey.
Oh god I have brought the MN swearing over with me.

Don’t blind us with science Galaxy ?

Galaxy Sun 08-May-22 13:23:50

How do you think it works of course people come over from MN. I spent a long time on MN but I am in my fifties now lots of the subjects relating to babies are of no relevance to me. You do understand that people on MN get older like everyone else grin

I'm thinking this is suggested more and more as there's more flitting over here from mumsnet? Plainly speaking, i think if you're NOT a 'gran'(or step-gran,or adoptive gran) you should not be on here.?

Some of the longest serving posters are not grans. We also have men on here. How discriminatory to suggest excluding them.
It is the name that is wrong, not the posters. ?

I agree. I like.

Hang on Fanny, I'm coming too.

That's not a sentence you often see on here grin.

Maybe you should campaign for an 'eject' button, so that you can get rid of posters who don't suit your chosen demographic?

FannyCornforth Sun 08-May-22 12:58:15

And where should I head to Nannan2? ?

Nannan2 Sun 08-May-22 12:56:39

And i bet there's a few of 'em would have been pressing a button right now?

Nothing wrong with a like button but I would rather have an Agree button. I'm more likely to leave Gransnet because of comments and people's reactions with others opinions than because of a button.

jaybee66 Sun 08-May-22 11:44:10

No.

Amalegra Sun 08-May-22 11:34:49

Personally I love the slightly anarchic vibes of the upvote/downvote buttons on some discussion forums! It appeals to my Machiavellian instincts I think. And I do frequently comment! I don’t think that it would add much to Gransnet though, so probably best not!

Grantanow Sun 08-May-22 11:28:23

Better to read comments than have a like or dislike button.

No stamping feet here Daisyanne. Anyhow I'm not getting into tit for tat. It serves no purpose. We both have our views and have expressed them to each other. I'm leaving it there.
