Uber drivers homophobic rant

This fact is two years old but it’s relevant.
3,000 cases of sexual assault were reported last year against Uber drivers

" The behaviour you have described is certainly concerning. Rest assured we take these kinds of allegations very seriously and will be taking the appropriate actions internally with the driver involved . "

His job is to drive you from A - B, end of, not to air his petsonal views of whatever

I dont know the code of conduct of Uber drivers but I would have thought what you're saying took place was against the rules ( if the rules were there in the first place )

it's akin to the ongoing issues disabled/blind people have with using uber.
so many do not accept that they must get out of their car to make themselves known to a blind person, or assist a disabled person.
and as for guide dogs, well...
it's an ongoing struggle.

Good on you ... saying about where he picked up at ... no doubt he has said this to others aswell , so could be anyone reporting him , doubt if he has never said it before , although shouldn't disclose any information about you at all, also not all Uber drivers are like this so cannot tarnish them all ... good & bad

Well done. A policeman once made a racist comment to me assuming that I would agree with him and it still bothers me that I didn’t get his number so I could report him. My only concern with the Uber driver is that, if he picked you up from your daughters home he knows where she lives and might realise who reported him. Not that it should make any difference but we do live in strange, rather frightening times.

Good result! Well done for reporting it - the more people who do, the more chance there is that it will be taken seriously.

Report him. I've heard people talk about gay people in this way, and it is so upsetting knowing that my lesbian daughter must come across this sort of thing all the time. It makes me want to scream.

Do report him to the local council, they licence him, his vehicle and UBer as an operator.
They have the power to suspend or revoke his licence. I doubt Uber will do anything.

Definitely report him. I love the Pride Festival - I recall going to the very first one in Bristol 50 years ago! Always a great atmosphere and fun.

What is so very annoying about people like your driver, is that they assume you will agree with them.

I suppose that's one of the reasons I don't like Ubers. I would only use black cabs if I have to use a taxi. I was in one recently and spotted that it had a camera. The driver said that this was for passenger safety and any footage was reviewed at their central office.

You may not have a response, but , in your own heart you know you are doing the right thing, if nothing is done hand on heart you can say you did try ... saying that ... keep us updated if they contact you please ... yes I am nosey

Please do report him. Not doing anything is tantamount to agreeing with his awful views.
I have never, and will not, use anything to do with Uber.

Thanks ladies I have decided to report him to uber. You are right that it probably won't have a great response but have to try to stop him voicing his hatred.

Just a quick look on Google reveals past homophobic examples:

In January a gay couple from London claimed they were kicked out of an Uber after they kissed and cuddled in the back seat of their vehicle.^

Clearly, they have history for this.

Definitely report him but, as MerylStreep says, Uber have form for this kind of behaviour and appear to have done zilch to address it.

Shame you didn't record him on your phone! The Daily Mail would have paid good money for that and publicized it for all the world to see.

Report him to the local council? Do uber drivers not have to have actual taxi licences these days? The council will have powers to revoke the licence.

I'd be surprised if they had a code of conduct they follow to be honest

Ubers reputation is fairly awful in other areas, I would be quite cynical in how they would respond to a complaint but they may surprise me. Isnt Panorama about Uber this week.

He’s not the first and he won’t be the last. There are a lot of reports of homophonic Uber drivers.
