Where’s the snow! I’m sorry if you’ve a few inches but why the panic over a dusting?

Panicking about a sprinkling of snow is a part of our national culture, don't you know. The Daily Mail is the custodian of our traditions.

Fortunately here in Scotland it's sunny and snowless, just bitterly cold.

Very cold with rain here in North Devon

My niece in Surrey just sent me pictures of her garden covered in snow.

Snow across the river from Sparklefizz. It’s just stopped snowing now and is beginning to melt in places. My driveway is on a steep hill so we often get snowed in.

Sparklefizz Wed 08-Mar-23 09:47:03

PS. I'm in South Gloucestershire.

Sleet here in Bedfordshire just now - of course it's the day the window cleaners are due to come!

I hate snow but have woken up to a blizzard and about 4 cms. I hope it goes away very soon. Don't fancy reversing my car up the steep slope that is my driveway, and then driving through my winding ungritted cul-de-sac. It would be ok once on the roads, but I'm staying in.

My cat has just skidded on the garden steps with a look of great surprise.

Rain here in southeast Cornwall. A good thing too, as our reservoirs are very low. We had a dry February but several very wet months, however, we are using more water than we are getting and still have a hosepipe ban. I dread to think what will happen when holidaymakers arrive in the summer. There are desalination plans so we'll all be drinking seawater.

Lots of snow here in S Wales….was planning to do some grocery shopping today - thank Heaven for long life milk and a well stocked freezer !

Havent looked yet am in Norfolk, but have planned to visit brother in Essex friday, which involves 3 trains and a bus, fingers crossed, ticket already paid for.

TerriBull Wed 08-Mar-23 09:40:20

Sussex/Surrey borders, I thought we were lucky not to get any snow until today, although it's not really settling, the road looks quite wet outside. Not a day for a walk though, I'm thinking of going to our newly refurbished John Lewis and walking continuously around the two floors there hoping that will be some sort of substitute, the weather outside looking most off putting for outside exercise, but I do miss a walk and it's either that or swimming for me. I hate snow, pretty it might well be at its best, but a damn hindrance in most respects.

None here in Manchester but a very cold and bright day.

Woke up to about 2" here near Bristol

My son was born on 1st May and it snowed that day!

We helped my MIL to move from up north to Devon in May and it snowed (deep snow) that year too.

BigBertha1 Wed 08-Mar-23 09:29:05

Nothing here in Cheshire. Very cold though but I don't expect much in March.

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Mar-23 09:26:46

Winchester, 7 miles north, all gone now where we are.

Sorry-that’s if it’s still snowing next week.

Schools closed in and around Basingstoke and Andover because of snow, then 2 days of NEU strikes. I wonder if striking teachers will say they’re working if the schools are closed, to avoid losing pay.

Spoke too soon! We’ve around three inches in rural Wiltshire. Keep safe all!

Patsy70 Wed 08-Mar-23 09:01:27

A couple of inches here in London/Kent border, but it’s thawing quite quickly. 🤞

Snow here in Somerset, and further south. The M5 is down to 2 lanes and going slow because the white lines are invisible

Happy birthday Joseanne
I think we'll get it later in the week but it's minus 7 here about 12 miles south of Edinburgh.
Too cold for snowgrin
My DB sent me a photo from Denmark today. We often get theirs.

You mustn't be that far from me.

Grammaretto Wed 08-Mar-23 08:22:19

Oh yes BlueBelle FB reminds us. Just as well perhaps.

NannyJan53 Wed 08-Mar-23 08:16:48

It is snowing here too in the Black Country. Light dusting at 7am, but now quite heavy

You are right Fanny it often snows in March, remember Beast from the East in 2018 I think it was? That was in March, we were practically snowbound here as we live on a hill and it was treacherous to walk out.

Hetty58 Wed 08-Mar-23 08:03:03

Doodledog, I have to go out tomorrow too, so have my shoe spikes ready. My neighbour swears by wearing old socks over her shoes for grip!
