Facebook, instagram, messenger hacked.

Using public wifi anywhere is risky. In the UK, you are more secure using mobile phone data for browsing when out and about (your can 'tether' your device using your mobile phone as a mobile hotspot). Check out your data roaming costs if you go abroad. Otherwise, I would not use public wifi anywhere unless using a VPN (Virtual Private Network). VPNs are not free but worth the cost if they prevent you from being hacked/scammed. Any data that are transmitted over a VPN are encrypted.

Also, make sure you use unique passwords for each site that you sign into. I pay for a password manager to help me with unique and complex passwords, my password manager also includes a VPN. I pay to use the same password manager on all my devices - my phone, iPad, desktop and laptop. It costs me £3.30 per month.

I know people have got their accounts back before so fingers crossed Facebook gets back to you

Iam64, I have had exactly the same from Facebook after a short trip abroad. Used hotel Wi-Fi once. Also one from Tesco saying someone had tried to access my account from a Mac machine. (I use an iPad).
However, being a suspicious sort, I have changed my passwords from the sites themselves rather than the email in case they were a scam.
I don’t know if it was the hotel Wi-Fi to blame because I also had a very suspicious email from a friend and wonder if they got my email from her account.

I’ve considered a new account but - I like my current one. I’ve emailed again. My son in law spent an hour going through their report a hacked account. He eventually emailed the fb support address. Fingers crossed. I’ve emailed 3 times, mine get rejected

I'd probably set up a new FB account, perhaps with an extra initial in it, so it's a bit different to your old one, search for my friends, explain what's happened, and tell them to just block anyone from your old account.

FB are hopeless with trying to contact them. 🙄

Thanks VioletSky. I’m losing belief that I can contact fb. The hacker has it set so if I try to put in a new password, their text goes to the hacks mobile number.

When you get back in, set up two factor authentication, it will prevent this

Thanks soda pop. It’s very stressful. I use apple products, they’re so helpful but even their genius can’t access facepack.

That's awful Iam64 I don't know how to contact Facebook but just wanted to sympathise, the same thing has just happened to a friend of mine as well.
I hope you get things sorted soon.
