Deliveries - a moan

I have had that with Amazon too, just a label stuck on the box. However I suppose it saves excess packaging and, much as I hate myself for using them, they deliver incredibly quickly.

We had an Amazon delivery yesterday which wasn’t even wrapped! It was a child’s toy with delivery label stuck on.

i have the same problem with evri, a few months ago i was buying a large amount from poundland online, about £60, i get all my cleaning and laundry etc to do about 3 months, i live in a small block of flats with four floors and a lift, evri left it in the foyer and someone stole it (i was in), it took over a month to get a refund, i have other things taken from outside my door even when i have left a note on the door to take it to a neighbours house. the only postal service i can be sure i get my parcel is royal mail as they never leave it if i don't answer the door. i thought hermes was bad but evri is not any better.

I’m another who dreads a Parcel Force delivery - they often don’t call on the day they say they will and eventually I find the parcel is back at the depot. Once they returned my parcel to the sender - which I only discovered when I phoned the sender about the absence of my order. Said they couldn’t find my address - nobody else has a problem finding me. I have also known them to say they haven’t been given the full address - which the sender says they have, but they haven’t logged it properly.
Royal Mail no problem, our postmen here are great.

I have never had any problems since we installed a Ring door bell.
It sounds if anyone is near it. If a delivery driver rings it, I can talk to them and see them via the camera to tell them where to leave it.

If they just leave something by the front door which I agree some Amazon drivers do, and leg it, I know something has arrived, so it's not there for ages.

As a side.. The pick up return service via Royal Mail works a treat too. I have only used on free returns.
So no trip and que at the Post Office.

Everytime I've ordered something - I've asked the driver to please put it in my neighbour's unlocked porch without ringing their bell if I'm not in.

I also put a notice on the front door .

This is met in a variety of ways .

They go straight to my neighbour's house and ring their bell or the parcel is left on my doorstep or at the side of the house .

Last time , no note indicated the whereabouts of the package .

It was pouring with rain .
I only saw it when I put the bins out .

I always choose a Royal Mail delivery, if it’s an option. Though I have to admit that Amazon Prime seems to work well here. I do try to buy elsewhere though.

I NEVER chose a Royal Mail delivery if I can help it. Though their service is OK at the moment, there has been three years of appalling service and it's really been a gamble whether we'd receive our mail. For example, my daughter in the States posted a Mother's Day card to me early May (different date than UK) which arrived middle of July.

On the other hand, and I hope I'm not tempting fate here, the other large couriers are generally OK. Anyway, I'm trying to cut back on my internet shopping ...

I have the most lovely Royal Mail delivery man who always calls me by my christian name.. he used to deliver our mail.. it's the Evri delivery men I have trouble with.. they just leave parcels almost on the street and don't bother knocking..

I have a friend who delivers for Evri. She works so hard and the pay is nothing special when you take into account the cost of fuel and time spent first thing sorting out all the parcels into some sort of order. Evri knows exactly where she is all the time and how long her deliveries are taking.

We receive lots of deliveries by various carriers including Amazon and I can't recall a mess up in the past three years. Some carriers are slower than others but you get what you pay for (or the seller does).

A few years ago I had an Amazon delivery shoved behind a large plant pot at the front door. No note to say it was there.

I was assuming it hadn't been delivered until found it accidentally a few weeks later. The contents were ruined. It was a book and it had been raining all the time it had been left there

waiting in for a parcel then got a text saying it's be in next hour. I waited in vain then got update saying no one was in! furious doesn't cover it..
rearranged delivery and same thin happened! I live in secure entry flats and it seems when they send a text to say 'in next hour' you have to be outside to receive it! which is what I had to do.

Once or twice a month I get deliveries from abroad of stuff I have bought in auctions. They are usually delivered by UPS or DHL who I find quite reliable. If there is customs duty they send me a notification so I can pay online and the package goes straight through with no delay.

I dread getting a parcel with Parcel Force as Ive had lots of issues with them. You cant pay the customs duty until the parcel has arrived at the local depot. You either have to wait for them to send you a letter with a 12 digit code or ring them up. You cant pay the duty without the code.

One expensive item was logged onto their delivery van and then disappeared although another similar item made it to me. I felt really bad having to put in a claim against the Ebay seller but hopefully she had insured the package and could put in for reimbursement.

We have a poster on a front window, with arrows pointing to where we want parcels deliviered.
Poster has very few words.
Does the trick.

I am usually at home waiting for an Amazon delivery and it is beyond me why they cannot ring the doorbell, leave the package and then drive away if they cannot be bothered waiting 30 seconds for me to take it.

Even more irritating is discovering the parcel dumped and I note online it was hand-delivered. Difficult through 3 closed doors.

Your "failed" delivery wasn't by EVRI (Hermes) was it? I've had an ongoing battle with M&S trying to persuade them to use a different delivery company as they rarely deliver to me first time.
Last week they excelled themselves. Apparently, EVRI tried to deliver my parcel on three separate occasions and each time I was out.
I wasn't. I was there waiting each time. According to my CCTV not a single EVRI driver ventured anywhere near my house.
I finally got my parcel on Saturday, when I was out. It was left on the step. 🥴

We had a couple of deliveries yesterday, all fine.
This morning I received an email saying a driver couldn't deliver because no one was home.
We have the lights on during the day because it's a dark interior, and everyone else delivered just fine, so I'm more apt to think that one either couldn't be bothered to pop down our little street just off the main road or they wanted to finish their shift so said they'd tried, though we knew they had not!!!
Delivery is now due today between 2pm - 4pm, and they'd better be on time!!

A while back I had a spate of drivers knocking my door with parcels that were not for me, They were for next door or one of the other houses. When I told them I dont accept parcels for random people some of them were not pleased.

However with the ring type door bells you can check your mobile device and see who it is without them knowing you are at home. You can also be the other end of the country and answer via an app. I just tell them I am not at home if I do get caught out and they want to leave someone elses parcel with me.

Most of my deliveries (apart from odd bits from Amazon) are tracked and come with the major couriers. The Amazon drivers usually leave them by the kitchen door in my nominated "safe" place. I know which day they are arriving and watch out for them on a mobile device.

If Im not expecting a package I just disconnect the door bell.

Drivers leave parcels at our covered trades entrance, works well.

My DD lives at the end of a lane. Evri drivers leave any parcels at the beginning of the lane and then text her. She has a ten minute walk to retrieve them and then depending on size get them home. This might involve a wheelbarrow. And if it is raining not a pleasant experience. Other delivery drivers such as dpd ,Tesco and ups deliver to her house.

Amazon drivers never seem to knock, but send an email saying the parcel has been delivered. They always take a photo too. We have a large open front porch so never a problem.
Their routes and stops and a strict timetable are dictated to them, I don’t think they are given any autonomy. I feel sorry for them.

One delivery driver just hurls parcels over the side gate. We have learned now to examine the back of the dustbins if something hasn't turned up!

My delivery driver rang the bell today to get access to the building, then nothing....
I am then informed it had been delivered to the Post Room, which means they left it on the table just inside the external door.
So I then have to go down a flight of stairs to retrieve my parcel before it disappears.

They ring our door bell then immediately ring our neighbours before giving us the chance to get to the door. When the neighbours have a delivery, they do the same thing .
