Having to give a phone number when ordering just about anything online. You’ve got my email - just use that, I don’t want you phoning me!

Not to mention the one time it might have been very useful - I had ordered something and paid extra for next day delivery, waited in all day for it to arrive - only it didn’t.

So I phoned next day to ask why not. ‘Oh, sorry, it was unexpectedly out of stock.’
‘So why the hell didn't you phone and let me know, then??’ 🤬

Sago, as this thread is already 6 pages long it may have already been suggested but here goes:
Could you start charging a deposit for your holiday let and state that it refundable following inspection after the customers have left?
I accept that cups, glasses etc can get broken but blatant theft items you describe is despicable.

Being dull January I could rant for England but have a few that I am really fed up about so please bare with me.

The endless adverts for funeral arrangements which seem to have started during lock down and has never stopped. Can't even die in peace, now we have even arrange and pay for everything ourselves. Have to get it over and done with quickly without a fuss.

The big supermarkets that think good customer service is self service check outs. They don't have the curiosity to serve me any more but are happy to take my money. Their excuse is its quicker, not from where I am standing with the queues all the way down the alleles and staff standing around chatting.

Well I had enough and with a trolley loads of shopping I refused to give them my money unless they served me. The answer was you can use the self serve check outs. I pointed out that the cashier will lose her job, she reassured me or herself that her job is secure, my reply being that's what the bank cashiers thought. When I retorted that I will use a supermarket that will serve me as a human being and not just greedily take me money, her reply was that all the large supermarkets are going this way. That did it with the last word that I don't need supermarkets I left the trolley by her till and left. I have plenty of time to shop else where and it will probably even save me money. Looking behind me I notice 4 other people with full trolleys did the same, lets see if that saves time.

My daughter did the same in her supermarket as she can not deal with self service, 2 young children and a trolley load of food. Let the supermarkets forget at their own peril the motto 'the customer is always right'

Love that SueEH! I'm another rager on slow movers at traffic lights. My dad always said that usually, everyone can see the lights so, theoretically, everyone should be prepared & ready to move at exactly the same time rather than what normally happens - number 1 in the queue starts moving then number 2, then 3 and so on. I'm with my dad on this & I get very impatient!!

I’m a member of a light hearted science group on fb and once a question was asked “which invention would change the world for the better?”. The most popular answer was that car steering wheels wouldn’t turn if the indicator hadn’t been activated! Just waiting for someone to invent it…..

I'm with you all about being pestered for reviews, especially when you haven't had time to even use the product and, for example with insurance, won't know until you need it whether the product is any good.
I try not to be too pedantic but I get irritated when people say/write 'should of' or 'could of' when they mean 'should've' or 'could've'. I also wish people would pronounce the 'r' in words, especially at the end of a word. Do they think it's posh to invite me to 'dinna' or 'suppa'?

Oh I’ve got a new one, people that use lavatories in public places and take forever.

Absolutely agree re being ask to review everything. Also it drives me mad having to “create an account” for everyone you buy from or do business with online.

grannybuy Yes! To your point B: So many times in a queue at the lights I have a little rant to myself, "We'll not get through these before they turn red again!" Or I mutter, " What on earth are they doing if they're not watching for the lights to turn to green? Are they asleep? I've got somewhere to go!" (Of course, I'm a perfect driver. 😂)

Mothers who smile indulgently as their toddlers stand on bus seats in their wet/muddy shoes.

Agree with others re
A - drivers who don’t signal. They must surely have been told the importance of signalling so often while learning to drive so often.

B - also drivers who take ages to move when traffic light turns to green.

C - toilet rolls in public toilets! Those large, heavy ones that are so difficult to move, and that tear in the wrong place when you pull, because of the weight.

My pet hate is being served hot drinks in cafe/restaurants ages before the food arrives. Invariably the drinks are cold/stewed/finished and I have to order more.
Also finishing a meal in restaurants and then having to wait an eternity to get the bill and another eternity for the card machine to be brought. Why can’t they bring bill and card reader together?
Don’t get me started on use of apostrophes………..

Oh! That’s me so apologies for comment number 2 if it’s a repeat of yours

2. After a routine blood pressure check yesterday afternoon, the nurse asked if I would mind ticking a box “On this form” to rate my visit.
I ticked “Very good” because no wait and she was pleasant but not until I had established it was just for this visit because the GP service there is non-existent. “Everyone says that” was her reply.
Sorry, not very light-hearted but when I saw this thread, it made me laugh because of yesterday’s experience!

These irritating flashing adverts on the side of the Gransnet forum.

People turning right at a junction who don't pull over far enough to allow people turning left to get past.

Yes yes yes - all the above - especially cold food in restaurants. We now request hot plates with hot food.
Another rant - people’s table manners - holding a knife like a pen, holding knife in left hand and scooping up with fork in right - where did that come from? Waving eating utensils in the air - perhaps it helps to burn calories. Eating with mouth open - line watching a washing machine in action. I will stop there……. One more - lack of manners - especially holding of doors and a thank you when I do - quite often they sail through.

No 1 - adults that dont listen to children when they have something and wait patiently and say excuse or just get shushed
No 2 - you ask a straight forward question and someone replies with an answer thats not relevant to what was asked
No 3 - people who say with tragic this or that poor so and so etc who would never lify a finger to put themselves out anyone on earth apart from them selves
No 4 - people who make decisions for me about an event or outing with no consultation eg we thought you would find it too boring, too expensive, too hot, or not your thing
You may be right in some insidences but it should be my choice!!!

This is my rant and it happened to us earlier.
We were waiting to go through a manned checkout at a supermarket. A young couple were in front of us and the woman was stood there for what seemed like an eternity scrolling through her phone. I suspected she was on the app looking for any offers when she finally said to the checkout assistant no there’s nothing on there. Aaagh and then the man she was with seemed to take forever packing. Apps are fine but in cases like this it just holds matters up. I know when I used a bus more regularly similar occurrences happened when people used to get on and using the app for the bus company. Just to say I can be slow myself sometimes but am aware if I’m holding up a queue etc.

I have decided that some drivers have their indicators disconnected - they certainly don't use them. And people who don't know how to manoeuvre around a mini roundabout.

Local chocolate shop with a sign say 'never bin near a Belgian', they might think it's funny, I think it's racist.

I really don't mind if there are just enough d/w tablets for the number of days we are staying in a holiday let or if the soap bottles are from Aldi. I do find it annoying staying somewhere that has no salt/pepper/mixed herbs or a minimum amount of cleaning stuff. In such cases I take anything I have bought back home with me.

Drivers who refuse to adjust speed to cut in on slip roads when there is loads of space even no other vehicles behind.
I just ignore review requests unless I have not been wholly satisfied or have received exceptional service.

Thoughtless drivers of any kind. Today I have seen parking on school zigzags, driving almost over the crossing patrol lady, pulling onto the pavement to get past an oncoming car while children are walking on it, parking on a blind bend, lots of pavement parking.
