Sago how I agree about the condiment situation. Why oh why do restaurants/pubs do this. They know people are going to ask for ketchup with chips, horseradish with roast beef, apple sauce with pork etc. Yet the server always looks vaguely surprised when you request it and then disappears long enough to make the stuff, only to return when your food has gone cold or been eaten.

Surely they could have some already dispensed into ramekins ready for the servers to grab especially if they are serving, for example, roast beef on a Sunday lunchtime. They know the majority of people will ask for it!

We always had all the matching condiments with food when I was a child and it really spoils the meal if I have to eat it without.

I only give product reviews if the item is absolutely superb or a heap of rubbish/useless, unfit-for-purpose tat. So why can't those review sites which expect you to award between one and five stars allow you to award zero stars for the rubbish items?

I hate tthose adverts where the excitable voice-over gushes that the product/offer is "incredible". So why are you wasting my time and your money then? If it's truly incredible, I'm never going to believe it.

My rant: Headache inducing showers in every new hotel. Standing scratching my head trying to work out hot/cold/temperature.

Glass shower screens. Probably on my own with this, but hate them. More work and much preferred Ye Olde shower curtain.
Cosier. I have draped a large plastic tablecloth over mine to get the same effect.
Extra loops I have to cut off the shoulders of new clothes.
Zips which stick for no reason.
Headlights which have become blinding, or is it me?
Booking online which taking up so much time (wrong password? Er no) means I pick up the phone and book.

I do admit that if I have a hesitant/timid driver on the slip road in front of me I'm quite keen to get past them and merge with the traffic (safely) rather than having to keep braking as they stop/start in front of me.
There is an uphill junction I use every month or so where you need to get into the 3rd lane to prevent being trapped between lorries.

In my opinion there are quite a few over cautious drivers (perhaps nervous) on our roads. Maybe as many as aggressive pushy ones.

Well, my partner was a rep and drove hundreds of miles most days when he was working and he is horrified by some of the driving we see when we’re travelling. We all have to make allowances for everyone when we drive and that covers people that overtake dangerously on the A1 and only get away with it because the over cautious drivers slow down to let them in. Most people that overtake dangerously will usually end up only several cars ahead of us when we get to a road junction or traffic lights.

Haha, Wheniwas yourage - don't ask me to come and coo over or admire a baby, but I'll happily stop and chat to and pet any dog (with the owner's permission, of course!).

So many rants are driving-related that I feel really glad I don’t drive

I don't drive either, and I would like to have a rant about drivers who don't indicate when they are coming to a junction where a pedestrian is obviously waiting to see which way they are going before trying to cross. I may not be in a car, but I am a road user too!

Litter louts.

Dogs which bark at you as you're merely walking past their house. Also dogs which are not guide dogs in restaurants or food shops. Dog owners who expect me to think their dog is just beautiful. I'm happy to admire someone's baby, but not necessarily someone's dog. (Puts on tin hat and hides behind sofa).

Snow ploughs which dump the snow on the pavement making it impossible to walk on them

But this week a customer has topped the charts of timewasters with 23 emails about the product he wanted to buy and USA custom regulations and after everything agreed inc change of product and me invoicing him, he cancelled.

And they don’t look, at least, if they do it’s for a split second. They must have the reaction of a superhero.

I agree with lots of these but can't see the problem of swiftly moving over into a fast/faster lane.
You usually have a long sliproad and usually can build up speed to slip onto the motorway. New people on a motorway can look what's coming just as they can when they have been on it a while.

We have one courier who delivers in her own huge car. She is quite young 20s or 30s and appears to be pretty agile - but she drives right in and parks if there's any space in the drive. I find it very rude - besides which, if a car is out it may want to come back in, as I did over the Christmas period. Or go out for that matter...

I know she's only here for a few minutes but the drive isn't long (3 cars length) and there's plenty of on-street parking and a wide road.
I have twice filled in the "how did we do" thing with something about not driving into our drive but no change. Last week my husband actually remembered to speak to her directly during a delivery as she was on the phone chatting in her car on our drive. He asked her not to drive in "in future" and she started to argue about it. He came in.
We shall see.

Sometimes small things are quite irritating. My window cleaner, boiler servicing person, the guy who came to quote for scaffolding etc haven't just assumed it would be OK. I would never do it.

I know it's nothing in the scheme of things - but this is a "rant the small things" space!

I totally get it with the reviews! But let’s take a step back to the cookies permission! Before you can even look at pretty much anything these days you have to consent to flipping cookies.
I sell online and get asked to review my buyers. What are you supposed to say, yes they paid me money and they’re really great?
Chuggers and homeless outside Aldi!! I shop there because I am struggling as do a lot of other people, it’s not fair to guilt trip us.
Speeding in built up areas! I don’t care how fast people drive on the motorway or dual carriageways but you should stick to the speed limit in built up areas. There are children, pets, OAPs who all need to be factored in when driving.
Tailgaters who often are doing it because of the previous sentence.
Parking on pavements.
People packing their shopping at the till in Aldi. The reason Aldi is cheap is because most considerate people do as the signs ask.
Dog owners who don’t appreciate that people are afraid of dogs or even phobic, and when you stand there paralysed with fear they tell you he/she is just being friendly/won’t hurt you/will lick you to death. Grinds my gears.

My D and I stayed in a holiday cottage, (quite lovely and luxurious actually) in Wales last August.
When my D got home there was a lovely email from the owner thanking us for the way we looked after and left the cottage and offering us a decent discount if we wanted to stay again.
We won’t be taking her offer up as, lovely as it was, it was very isolated and we felt unsafe about going out at night.

Absolutely agree with you on all of it and to steal from you is appalling ! I too think you should ask for a deposit. I use Airbnb's and wouldn’t dream of stealing anything

Son and I meet and greet and are about to chat about where to go etc We also leave home made cake in the fridge
We too have wooden hangers and I haven’t counted them but don’t think we have lost any Don’t think people take note of rules
Except we had a German family staying and in the stable block which houses the laundry we keep the tennis rackets they can borrow
There is an old notice which says leave as you find. It had been raining and two lovely teenage girls kindly washed the floor for me

Pammie I was annoyed when my email told me that Evri had delivered my parcel safely. They had thrown it into the porch of my neighbour further down the road.

Sorry to hear about the rotter's stealing your things, if they're that desperate they should get a job to buy their own!

We're clean and tidy anyway but when hubby and I have been in hotels, B&B's and self-catering we ALWAYS clean the trays the kettle etc. is on, empty the kettle, close windows, empty bins and leave the tied-up bag by the bin and put a new bag in, general clean of the bathroom and entire place, when we eat we put a tea towel or napkins under it to try to stop food dropping on the floor or furniture, on the rare occasion we accidentally spill liquids we immediately contact the staff, apologize and offer to pay for the cleaning, we strip the bed and leave a box of chocs for the staff, we could never leave the place in a tip or nick anything!

Why do you do all that? You are paying to stay somewhere and should not be expected to clean the place, unless you've made a lo of mess perhaps. It's different if you have friends staying. ours will strip the bed, separate used and unused towels and make sure that their bathroom is clean. We do the same when staying with friends.

Deliveries which state the parcel was 'handed to the resident' when it blatantly was not!!!! ( being left by the front door for all to see...)

Being asked 'how as your delivery?' with only a 'thumbs up/down' emoji to click on...the item arrived in tact so that would be a thumbs up...it was not handed to me although I was at home, the doorbell was not used-so that would be a thumb down! Dont usually bother to reply tbh.

Evri, in particular are guilty of the ‘parcel handed to resident’ lie. I have never yet been handed a parcel by the local courier - he doesn’t even ring the doorbell, just throws the parcel into the porch and scarpers !!

My pet peeve at the moment is packaging that’s impossible to open - especially food packaging. I have arthritis and movement in my hands is becoming more difficult so I know not everyone will have this problem, but honestly is there really any need for things to be wrapped in so many layers of packaging and seemingly superglued shut !! I recently had to take a pair of scissors to the corner of a packet of crisps because try as I might, I couldn’t pull it open, and neither could my partner, who has no issues with his hands. Maddening.

We have three holiday lets and loose very little we do live on site north Wales
The odd broken glass, expected, for which folks frequently leave some money
Face cloths but apparently we are not the only ones
More to the point it’s what is left behind, More than once we have had items that require batteries which is all very amusing until one of your cleaner grand kids wants to know what it is
My grumble husband who won’t put stuff away

We don’t live on site, our let is in North Yorkshire.
I leave little extras like room sprays, wheat packs, nice anti bac surface cleaner etc etc.
For some reason people decide to take them!
I hate a mish mash of cheap coat hangers so provide lovely wooden ones, each one has a ripon with the name of our let tied on but it doesn’t deter them, one guest took 6!
I’m there now deep cleaning and have thought about putting a note in the file asking people not to take things but if I was a guest I would hate that!

Over-packaging is one of my rants in dirty well-used plastic bags. Use paper then we can recycle.
I feel sorry for the van drivers who must get a lot of abuse, especially weekly grocery orders they are always so pleasant and well-mannered." Your delivery madam with a good sprinkling of double cream on everything including your floor and kitchen table."
