Car stereos blaring out!

Yesterday morning we were woken by a car stereo at full volume, it was 7.30, the car reversed into a space then the occupant spent a few minutes fiddling on her phone and eventually turned off the engine.
To my surprise she was a suited and booted woman of around 50.

This morning a car has just pulled away with the stereo on full.

Why do people do it?

AIBU or should car sound systems have a legal limit?

Oh dear!

It's a pity how the tone of this thread was changed by some of
the personal comments, Aveline, which were directed at GSM.
I really can't understand why someone would go out of their way to target another Gransnetter, simply because they drive a certain brand of car and then continue to do so.--

You'd probably recognise some of the popular tunes of the first two bands. Their stuff was played quite a lot on the radio.

^flatulent noises^

Flatulent noises is the polite version which I thought might pass the watchers at GNHQ, but we are inclined to use a shorter, probably more Anglo-Saxon word! Either way it is annoying!

Yes, but you can hear everyone else's stereos as they pass you!

So far germanshepherdsmum! You might want to check the research.

Dog with a bone, comes to mind. This thread was enjoyable, until the personal remarks started.

None of us here are stupid and are able to make our own choices.

Fgs Aveline, do you think I spend every waking hour listening to loud music? I certainly don’t. Those who attend a lot of rock concerts are far more at risk.

Don't like to hear it from stationary cars.
Myself, I have an eclectic taste in music from gentle grey haired granny classical to full on rock chick and often wonder what folk think of me as I drive past in my car. Haha.

That sounds like me hilz. I really wanted to go to Download this year as The Offspring, Fallout Boy and Avenged Sevenfold were playing but couldn't find anybody who wanted to go except for my son who was scuppered by his SIL's hen do so no-one to look after my DGS. πŸ™„

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Apr-24 19:33:08

No, Aveline. Our hearing is fine.

Great stuff all you volume addicts. Are you finding that the TV needs to be turned up yet and that other people just mumble these days? If not yet, then soon...

Jennyluck Sun 07-Apr-24 18:10:28

Oh music on full blast when I’m in my car alone. It’s my absolute joy. I’m 68 and music is still my passion.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Apr-24 17:47:19

Good for him, grannypiper. I don’t know why tradespeople have to have music blasting out. The decorator we used recently wore headphones - not so difficult is it?

Mel1967 Sun 07-Apr-24 17:13:57

Definitely me.
Roof down.
Music full blast
Especially if I’ve had a bad day at work.
I go for a long drive, with music on.
Never fails to make me feel better.

Marydoll..same age as me another rock chic...AC/Dc,Queen,Blondie,Zepplin etc Full volume in the car on my own but defo not outside anyone's home......are you from Glasgow by chance? Lol

Whatever made you think I was from Glesca? 🀣

grannypiper Sun 07-Apr-24 17:03:21

My big scary looking( to others) biker builder dh's pet hate is music thumping from trucks , van and cars. He wouldn't allow any of his drivers to have music on and windows open and has been know to remove keys from other builders vans and trucks on site if they have left the radio on.
It really is the height of bad manners to wake people up because your radio is blasting.

MissAdventure Sun 07-Apr-24 16:56:47

I'd love a car that did that!!! grin

Guilty as charged 🀣

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Apr-24 16:47:11

My hearing is fine. But then my music has never been at what you might call blaring level, at home or in the car.
