Car stereos blaring out!

Yesterday morning we were woken by a car stereo at full volume, it was 7.30, the car reversed into a space then the occupant spent a few minutes fiddling on her phone and eventually turned off the engine.
To my surprise she was a suited and booted woman of around 50.

This morning a car has just pulled away with the stereo on full.

Why do people do it?

AIBU or should car sound systems have a legal limit?

I've always liked blaring classical music from my car.
...now I wear hearing aids. Lesson learned a little too late....wonder how long it will take others...?

Really unsociable at that hour, still people these days don’t seem to think if they are disturbing others. Also people running their engine outside my house yet not moving for ages is just as annoying

Thank you Wheniwasyourage. I didn’t remember saying it but CBA to trawl back through my posts. Sadly, some of them do fit that description and are responsible for a lot of anti-social behaviour, in cars and otherwise.

Ooh, I wouldn’t if I were you MissA. Mind you, he’d insist on being in front so I could have an easy time of it!

MissAdventure Sun 07-Apr-24 15:27:46

I'm going to just imagine gsm and her husband on a tandem.

It saves upsets.

I was the one who mentioned half-wits, as in the lads who drive around here making loud and sometimes flatulent noises with their cars. I don’t share Germanshepherdsmum’s views on politics, cars or dogs, but I enjoy reading her posts and don’t know why she is being subjected to such unpleasantness. We’re all allowed to have our opinions!

No, saving the earth is not a thing of the past - but it is greener to put petrol in my 17 year old car (which no longer goes on very long journeys) than to be responsible for the creation of numerous new vehicles during that period.

This is a very valid argument, we should be encouraged to keep and maintain our cars for as long as possible rather than replacing them with new electric models.
The energy used in manufacture and battery is high and not always eco friendly.

I am not, and never have been, a selfish person. Nor am I, nor ever have been, boastful. It’s the way you choose to interpret and twist words. Unlike you, I don’t hurl insults at people who have done me no harm.

Nannan2 Sun 07-Apr-24 14:55:01

No could insult entitled selfish people all day long but i have other things to do.I'm going to prepare things for charity to help save the earths resources.(notice JaneJudge told us about her music habits without putting down others.Or boasting.)

JaneJudge Sun 07-Apr-24 14:44:28

Calistemon I turn my stereo down when I’m in my street as not to annoy my neighbours at all other times it’s on LOUD 😅

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Apr-24 14:38:37

No, the implication was not there - that would have been, as I said above, ridiculous. The implication is entirely within your own head. Anyway, I thought you were going? You must have run out of insults by now.

JaneJudge

I have a 19yo diesel so I win on the planet destroying front. I also like really expensive bed linen

Do you play your car radio at top belt, too?
😁

Nannan2 Sun 07-Apr-24 14:35:48

Ok you did'nt say 'all'- but the implication was there.

And you got past your economical stage and now saving the earth is also a thing of the past, at a time when a lot of people are concerned about it, and revving engines/exhausts....

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Apr-24 14:29:04

Not all young people - that’s purely your invention.

And I am not, nor ever have been, an ‘entitled’ person. Nor do I lie or dissemble.

Bye bye Nannan. Wish I could say it’s been a pleasure.

MissAdventure Sun 07-Apr-24 14:22:56

Oh, is the word "Punto"?
I thought it was "Pinto". blush

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Apr-24 14:22:24

I had a Fiat in the early 70s but it was a Strada. I was going through a green and economical stage. I grew out of it. I blame it on working in the public sector at the time.

Callistemon21 Sun 07-Apr-24 14:20:34

I think i'll give gransnet a breather as its full of all this nonsense these days ....

Good idea, it is nonsensical
But we like it!

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 07-Apr-24 14:20:18

No, I did not assume that ‘oldies’ referred only to me - for a start, it’s the plural - and others here have also expressed a liking for loud music and sporty cars.

You are correct, the fact that you look younger than your age is irrelevant - but at the risk of making your ‘boastful’ antennae twitch, so do I.

Callistemon21 Sun 07-Apr-24 14:19:19

I bought my first P (better not say the word as it seems so inflammatory)

Just call it a Punto, GSM!

My neighbour had a Fiat Punto, he said FIAT stood for Fix It Again Today.
Probably cost more than a P*****e in the end.

MissAdventure Sun 07-Apr-24 14:18:11

Oh gsm isn't a friend, in fact, we have been very much less than friends at times!

I just don't find her at all boastful (whatever her other faults are! grin)
