What on earth is a sports exhaust? And if it’s what I dread to think it might be, what on earth is the point?

I hate such things!

Heavy metal/rock/punk/(c)rap blaring out so loud that innocent people are deafened by it.

VERY selfish and inconsiderate. If you want to make yourself go deaf then go ahead and do it but DON'T force everyone else's hearing to be bashed and battered.

I always say”Thanks for sharing your music with me and half of Somerset” but they can’t hear me! And will probably have a hearing problem as time goes on and need even louder music if that’s possible.

Loud music is ok if it really doesn’t bother others, but too many people think they are in self-contained bubbles when they really aren’t. Many detached houses have little space between them and next door, for instance - even with the windows closed noise travels in the same way as it does from parked cars. If a house is in its own grounds, fair enough. On a housing estate, however, the chances are that loud music will bother the neighbours.

Loud music when driving on a motorway is one thing, as the speed and sound of whizzing traffic deadens the sound, but playing it when driving through residential areas, in parked cars, the dreaded workmen’s radios, and loud music at barbecues-all require consideration for others.

I suffer from this, I often get woken at silly o'clock because someone parks near my bedroom window. They seem to faff around for ages before setting off and the base is thumping so much you can hear it right until the car leaves the street.

Having had at least one oikish neighbour with boom boom speakers I have a low opinion of people who blast out music of any sort. For me music is an unobtrusive background to other activities. I would only have it loud if I were trying to drown out other unwanted noice (such as works going on outside). However I live in a detached house so it doesnt bother my neighbours.

Go Sarnia FireStarter!!

There's no call for loud music. If you really enjoy the music turn it down so you can really hear it rather than just battering your eardrums.

It's infuriating, I love music, but in summer when the windows are open all you can hear is cars with music blaring. If I stop at traffic lights near houses I turn mine down. There is a time and a place.

At 76 I like my car stereo on loud but only when moving and with all windows tightly shut. Prodigy have to be on loud!

Kalu Thu 04-Apr-24 10:16:22

Do NOT! 🤦🏼‍♀️

The thud, thud of heavy base from some cars is so intrusive, especially when parked near our house. How do they hear sirens or horns?

Also, so many tradesmen when working outdoors with this, not what I would call music, even worse……please do share your music, I hate it!

Sago

Yesterday morning we were woken by a car stereo at full volume, it was 7.30, the car reversed into a space then the occupant spent a few minutes fiddling on her phone and eventually turned off the engine.
To my surprise she was a suited and booted woman of around 50.

This morning a car has just pulled away with the stereo on full.

Why do people do it?

AIBU or should car sound systems have a legal limit?

Really no need for blasting g out music, keep your car windows shut,or turn volume down. What makes you think others want to listen. Selfish.

I do like my music on, quite loud, when driving. And I also turn on the sports exhaust as soon as I switch on the engine. Note that I play music when driving, not when sitting outside someone’s house or in a car park.

I didn’t realise there was any other way to listen to music in a car!
One of life’s great pleasures, flying along alone in a beautiful car with 🎸 🎸 blasting out 😀
Adjusted a bit when stationary of course.
