The police reports would claim the marchers are generally
peaceful, to say otherwise would admit they are choosing not
to do anything about antisemitism which is rampant in the marches
Are you irritating in RL? (light hearted)
An openly Jewish man wearing a skull cap was trying to cross the road where a pro Palestine march was taking place. He was stopped by a Met Officer who threatened to arrest the man for breaching the peace because of his openly Jewish appearance. He was merely trying to cross the road. Yes tensions run high amongst these demonstrations, but this person is a citizen going about their daily life. Why should the onus be on him to disappear, surely that onus should be on the demonstrators not to target individuals to take out any grievances. Possibly the Officer was trying to head off any clashes, but I think there is something worryingly wrong and discriminatory in telling a demographic, any demographic, they are not free to move about on the streets of their own country.
Your thoughts on the matter.

So many people across the world find Israel's conduct in Gaza totally unacceptable. Are we all anti semitic Hamas supporters? No of course not, any more than the majority of people on the Pro Palestine marches are. Take any large group of people and you will find bad ones but it's completely wrong to accuse everyone in the group of being the same. The police reports that I have read consistently say that the marches are generally peaceful, if they weren't they would have cause to ban them and they don't.

I find those comments that anyone on the pro Palestine marches are anti semitic and/or supporters of Hamas extremely offensive. I know people who have attended these marches and they are decent humane people. There are many Jews on the marches. There are parents with their children in push chairs. For the last time, you don't have to be anti semitic or a supporter of Hamas to object to the way Palestinians are treated. Nearly every member country in the UN has, via their representative, expressed great concern.
This.
We seem to always end up talking about London, understandably, but locally here there have been vigils and small marches.
In the USA colleges across the country are taking part - U tube has a lot of information.

Pro Hamas I think, plus anyone who gets in their way.Their propaganda war is very successful and good luck if they take charge in the UK. You’ll need it.
Hamas won't take charge of the UK in my lifetime at the very least.

From what you say, Allsorts, the Chief was confirming what we have seen in the Sky video and transcript. In other words, the truth of the matter as opposed to the edited highlights which GF posted. Most of us are able to recognise the truth.
Allsorts the chief of police, he would say that wouldn’t he ?
nanna8 agree definitely pro Hamas

I listened to the Chief of police, I think he was, reporting on that incident, it was not as it seems, they have footage and recordings of it, that man was being deliberately challenging He inflamed and didn’t defuse a bad situation or assist the police in any way. I am not on either side. If we were in trouble would either country help?
I am sick of these marches, all this unrest because of what is happening in other countries, why are we the keepers of the world, get ours sorted. Mental health here is off the scale, a frightening place for our young children. We welcome people but are being taken advantage of,

There were pro Palestinian marches out on the streets of London one week after the appalling and barbaric massacre one week before.
I think that tells us all we need to know about the motives of the marches.
Pure antisemitism.
I don't get the logic of that claim.
One never knows how selective the author has been - lots of ignorance on the different parts of the area.
However it sent me browsing U tube:

A lot more coming out of the USA though.
Thank you Rosie a combined state for Israel and Palastine !
A short 5 minute interesting video that asks a few protestors the meaning of the signs they're carrying.

Indeed - Am very aware of aspects of the history - I think intentions have got mixed up in interpreting the post
- I think AGAA4 and me were just sharing an example of incidents of childhood awareness at that point.
As I said I had a very political upbringing which included not just Dad and Mum being active in the 1930's against the growth of and post WW2 being part of the effort to settle refugees who were Jewish and centuries of history.
Wyllow3 the first recorded anti semitism that I’m aware of was after the Roman destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem in 70cE and subsequent exile of the Jews. Gospels diminished Roman responsibility, blaming Jewish people for the death of Jesus (Matthew 27.25) Jews were depicted as killers of the son of GID (encyclopaedia Brittanica)
The best history of Jewish people I’ve seen is in the Jewish Museum on Berlin
Maddyone as I have said I am happy to apologise, I was not aware of the march on 14/10. I do know that there have been marches in different parts of the country but I have not attempted to quantify them as they are clearly not in Central London, which I thought we were discussing.
Incidentally that was reported 18/11/23.
Sometimes they have changed the London destination to conduct’100s of marches’ across the country, according to the Guardian.
Anyway I live near London and I know they take place pretty much weekly.
Well your information is wrong since the first pro Palestinian March took place on 14/10 in London.
Not only have I just checked, I remember it well. I was surprised it was happening before any response from Israel.
maddyone
There have not been marches only every two/three weeks foxie. Those of us who live near London know that almost every week there have been marches, and on two occasions there were marches midweek too. I’m aware of only one weekend when there was no march. It is simply wrong to claim otherwise.
I got information from the organiser's website which said the 11th march was taking place on the March 30th, the first one, according to my research was on 21st October, the Gideon Falter incident occurred on the 13th April, which was two weeks later. An accurate way of telling the frequency is to ignore either the first or last march over this period, so in a period of between Saturday 21st October and the 12th of April there were 11 marches over a period of 25 weeks. I cannot find any reference to mid week marches, if any took place I was unaware of them. I am guessing the marches are organised on a two weekly basis with the occasional bigger gap to accommodate holiday periods. I think anyone who has read my posts over the years will know that I try to be accurate and post links if appropriate (even if some don't bother to read them). If my post is inaccurate, I will of course, as usual, apologise.

Pure antisemitism.
Date Israel launched it’s action in Gaza following 7/10 massacre was 27/10
Date of first pro Palestine March in London was 14/10
Enough said!
I don’t think they serve a purpose at all. I don’t think they ever have. I think we were all fully aware of the horrendous events on 7/10 and in fact, these marches started the first weekend, whilst the Israeli action didn’t even begin for approximately three weeks. I wonder what the first marches were supposed to achieve then?

I don't think people really understand antisemitism and openly Jewish in the context was clumsy but not antisemiti
I am a Christian but we had a surname that many believed was Jewish. My first taste of antisemitism was when I was about seven. My sister and I were in our sandpit in the garden and two little girls came to the fence of their garden and asked to play. Their angry mother appeared and said "You are not to play with those children they are filthy Jews".
Now that was antisemitism! At that age in the early 50s I didn't even know what a Jew was.Shows just how long anti-semitism has been alive and kicking!
As my Dad had been involved around the Cable Street conflicts we were brought up to be very aware of the appalling genocide before and during WW2. Mum and Dad were active in re settlement help post WW2 in the UK.
Shows just how long anti-semitism has been alive and kicking!
🤔
It shows nothing of the kind.
It has gone on for centuries.
