Politicians' behaviour

I absolutely do agree with you. Confrontational politics is ridiculous. Watching PMQs is like watching a group of children with name-calling, groaning, laughing, point-scoring etc.., all while supposedly discussing things which affect us. I often despair and wonder if any of them are actually doing their best to do the right thing or are they all in it for their own enjoyment? I am a supporter of proportional representation in the hope that it would mean a more reasoned, rational discussion. Can't see it happening though - our 'representatives' are too busy having fun - or so it seems.

I too agree. None of these “grown-ups” need to be point scoring and being sarky about each other. They’re paid to represent and serve us! About time they remembered this.

The problem is the voting system only allows for one or the other two main parties to run the country, even though millions of voters would love someone else to be given a chance. They won't change it as both the main parties want the status quo as it benefits them. Totally with you on PR as it would make the system better.

PR offers excessive power to minority parties. Be careful what you wish for.

The major parties unite over one thing and one thing only, I have found. They will not allow any other party into the mix, by fair means or foul, mostly foul. They will invent a scandal if need be but they join to protect themselves.

Whenever I watch PMQ's, I hope there are no children watching. How can you try to teach a child nice behaviour when they see those running the country behaving in such an appalling manner?

Haven't we all lived long enough to know that PMQs is just a game? That it's theatre and not in the least bit typical of the work that does go on in Parliament?

You'd get a far better idea of MPs and their working behaviour if you watched a serious debate, or a select committee.

PMQs is just for the telly. If the BBC and ITV stopped showing it they would have to get on with more important stuff. I'm not sure televising Parliament was a good idea although it lets us see what idiots some of the MPs are, thinking of the ERG for example.

There are a good number of MP's who work for their constituents and on committees who you sometimes even get - gasp. - cross party cooperation. What Maizie said - PMQ's is theatre (and even before TV ) was to some extent.

One hears so often, "only seem bothered about themselves". I'm sure thats true for some, but to tar all with the same brush is both lazy and undermines people's willingness to come out and vote

I'd say get more involved O/P instead of the politics of "lets just give up"

are we just more aware these days owing to media etc re their behaviour? if you look at trump ,putin, etc it seems as a species we are descending in many ways,something is going on ,not sure what though, there must be rays of sunlight somewhere?

Unfortunately, The U.K. is not the only country involved in an appalling "circus" ..

The threats, vulgarity, cruel, condemning, racism, hatred, envy, mentally deficient and ill politicians should be behind bars or in a "straight jacket" ..

This world has become quite pathetic ..

Very saddened by this "chess game" which is both an insane asylum and a circus of imbeciles.

I worry given the state of the world with the threat of aggression (wherever it originates, political or religious), do we have confidence in any politicians of either persuasion to have the bulldog spirit ? Indeed the circus rolls on.
The greater worry is the lives of my GC.

That's a fair point and one which I hadn't thought of. I guess I'm just so disgusted by the behaviour of the current lot that I'm clutching at straws in the hope that a different system would bring about a change. Meanwhile, we keep on keeping on, don't we?

Politics is cutthroat in the UK in other countries it can be violent even deadly
They will cheat, lie and bribe to get elected that’s the way it is, small parties are just as bad when they hold some kind of power.

TBH I’d have thought, ‘Is anyone not tired of it?’ a more timely question.
