Apparently the met office say we have had the hottest spring since records began. Do they live in a parallel universe? I have been so, so cold these last couple of months. I live in london and there has been a permanent black cloud which won’t shift, apart from yesterday! Hurry up summer! We’ve even had the heating on once or twice which was unheard of for us in April/may! And it has rained and rained.

The government is leading is and they are quite obviously lying!

It has been the coldest wettest spring for several years.

This is to push the 'climate emergency' rubbish. I believe that they have been cloud seeding here to make it so wet that the famers have been unable to sow crops. Farmers are also being paid to NOT produce food in the UK, as also mentioned on 'Clarkson's Farm'. I think t's another way of keeping is fearful and controlled.

This video is an excellent place to start ...

Just come in from the garden. I should have done more but the wind is so cold. Glad to get back indoors.

Gin Wed 05-Jun-24 12:07:00

I have been gardening in the sun but it was not what you would call warm except in the greenhouse because there is such a cold wind. Came in for a cuppa and am sitting in front of the fire, it is freezing in our 120 year old house.

M0nica Wed 05-Jun-24 12:06:28

Joseann that is surely an underestimate!

Dingleberry Wed 05-Jun-24 11:52:37

It is blowing a gale and raining in West Yorkshire.

MissAdventure Wed 05-Jun-24 11:47:35

I've just been to washing line, and it's really cold out there!
Horrible.

I walked into town this morning without a coat, just a fleece. In the wind it was chilly, in the sun it was warm. No hood, no umbrella. It tried to rain but thankfully I got home before it did. Rain was not forecast on my weather app. I can hardly believe how hot it was last Sunday. So changeable.

Joseann Wed 05-Jun-24 11:25:47

Did you know, the average British person spends 4 and a half months of their life talking about the weather?

M0nica Wed 05-Jun-24 10:48:34

Today I put on a thermal vest on under my summer dress and cardigan.

karmalady Wed 05-Jun-24 08:22:35

Its the rain, not the heat. Outside actual temperatures are likely to have been warmer but the dark clouds and lashing rain do actually cause a drop in ambient temperature. If it is cool but the sun is shining then it raises our perspectives. Nights have certainly felt cooler, it can be warm enough at the start of the night but the lower night temperatures creep in and some do wake with feeling cold

Also older age and poorer circulation hence bedsocks are a good idea.

Best of luck pascal30. The rain here in north Manchester yesterday was heavy at times then drizzle - I’m fed up with it 😞

I’m having the patio re-paved. The men put up a gazebo and hoped to work 9-4 but were rained off by one. It’s going to take much longer than they estimated. One said yesterday the forecast he’d seen predicted 30 days of rain

Oh great.. I'm waiting to have my flat roof refelted and it seems to rain heavily every day.. sympathies Iam64

Sunday was beautiful and I think that we had three or four nice days in May. Otherwise, it has been grey and cold here in the East Midlands. And the rain! I have needed my hot water bottle most evenings while watching the television. It's business as usual today - cool and wet. I saw the report and agree - parallel universe indeed.

I'm just trying to decide what to wear to go out and can't work out whether I'm warm or cold.. It's a most peculiar day down here on the S/E coast..

AGAA4 Tue 04-Jun-24 11:06:13

I was soaked by a sudden rain shower this morning. It's grey, damp and not very warm here in Wales

annodomini Tue 04-Jun-24 10:58:23

I'd optimistically put away my thermals and now I'm trying to find where I've put them. I've never stopped wearing my bed socks and the electric blanket goes on for a short while until the bed is cosy enough to keep my feet warm.

MiniMoon Tue 04-Jun-24 10:12:49

I'm still wearing my winter sweaters! My summer dresses and floaty tops are all ready to go but the weather has been so poor I've only managed to wear one dress on one day. I live in Hadrian's Wall Country and pity the walkers having to tramp through all the rain.
DH put the heating on for an hour this morning.

harrigran Tue 04-Jun-24 08:30:46

I am in the north east and my heating is on every morning and I am still wearing bedsocks.
Our summer usually consists of the odd sunny day but that is usually followed by sea fret at the coast.
I have worn my sandals once this year so far.

Yongy Tue 04-Jun-24 08:30:23

There is a bit of drizzle and breezy here, but it is quite warm

Iam64 Tue 04-Jun-24 08:17:01

I’m in the north west, it’s been grey, overcast, rainy and chilly since last October, with the welcome exception of an occasional day.
I read the statements about the warmest May and wondered which bit if the UK I’d could refer to. It’s another grey, dismal, damp morning here.

Gala Tue 04-Jun-24 07:59:44

Cold & wet again here in Sefton., We've had very little warm &/or dry weather. When it's not been actually raining the best we've had has been mizzle (a cross between drizzle & mist) and mild.

Allsorts Tue 04-Jun-24 07:25:58

We had our summer on Saturday, now back to rain or on a good day light showers.

Joseann Tue 04-Jun-24 07:22:56

Just had to show off my weather, for those who like pictures. Sorry!
6 am this morning and the sunshine is already breaking through. Not particularly that far from the UK either.
