Did we really need letters telling us we are longer entitled to the winter fuel allowance??

What a complete waste of money!!

I'm not sure why. I get a letter annually.

I don’t get the annual letters stating what next year’s pension will be either, or the Christmas bonus letters. DH does.

Oddly enough we have small German pensions too and he gets a monthly letter from our bank telling him how much he’s getting paid into our joint account this month, then another one addressed to him telling him what I’m getting! I’ve asked the bank not to send them but apparently they have to, as the payments are from another country.

I did get the letter about the WFA stopping though, so perhaps my invisibility cloak’s dropped off.

Total waste of money, but if it encourages anyone to apply for Pension Credit, I suppose it is worth it.

I think that's the point of them. I don't get a pension yet, but my husband does, and got a letter informing him that he won't get the WFP, but if he fulfilled one of a list of criteria he could claim PC. If, as we keep hearing, there are many people who could claim but don't, this might mean that they realise they are entitled and make a claim.

Given the automation in the system it won't cost as much as it used to to send out letters. They will be printed automatically, and the DWP won't be paying full price for stamps - they will have a special deal with RM. It would be cheaper if they could use text or email, but too many people don't engage with electronic communication, so there is no alternative but to send paper copies.

Goodness, there’s no need to shout, and I can hear perfectly well.

As Nana56 has already said, her thread is about her never getting letters about anything from DWP, rather than the specific WFA letter.

And if there’s some cross over, does it really matter?

To be fair, often, posts are started, but the OP hasn't checked to see if there is already a thread on this subject.

Nana did ask if anyone had received a letter re WFA and many had already stated this on the other read.
I responded by posting the link to the other thread.
It was not a criticism, just trying to be helpful.

However, I can understand why Georgesgran felt the need to comment.

Nana56, if you haven’t been receiving letters from DWP, it may be worth ringing them. I didn’t realise that I wasn’t receiving correspondence until earlier this year when my pension was stopped. Long story short, back in 2021 someone in the DWP altered my address, even though I hadn’t moved. It took a long time to sort out, also involving HMRC. It was only with the help of my then MP that the problem was eventually resolved.

Thanks oldbutstilluseful. I did phone DWP pension enquiry. Gave all mhcdetsiks snd was given mg new pension amount.
However my query about lack of post was told, "can't help you, you need change of circumstances "
Explained nothing had changed. Obviously all my details were correct to have been given pension info.
The handler refused to transfer me.

It's not a duplicate thread. I wad using the WFAas an illustration. There's no need to shout
