Funniest thing for me was.
It was our mams funeral and our granddaughter asked if she could come in the car with the us.
We went yes hop in.. She's 3yrs old. Sat between my brother and I.. The funeral men sat driving.. She went as loud as she could I've got Nitts..the car nearly came to a halt. Everyone backed away from her.. The faces of the people was so funny. Then we all cracked out laughing.. The drivers shoulders were shaking with laughing.. Now that's the best send off our mother would have loved..

That happened to me back in the day- I had my nurses uniform on under my mac, because it was made of some polyester it rode up over my stockings, plus, suspenders were also the fashion back then so the whole shabang was on show walking up the road- no wonder I had so many horns beeping. Surprised I was arrested 🤣
Maybe today could have reported them for non- hate crime ( because you aren’t supposed beep or wolf- whistle at people now). Still laugh about it now.
As for that old dear, what a lovely thing- bet it made her day 😊

Years ago my adult son spotted a pet rabbit on our street. I said I knew there was a family who had rabbits. We knocked the door but no answer. So he took the rabbit round the back and put it in the hutch. Then the family arrived home and were confused about this stranger in their back garden. I was trying to explain but they didn't know me either. Son and I scuttled off while the family looked very suspiciously at us.

A funny but embarrassing moment. Had a week away with my new boyfriend and his children, we were not abroad but somewhere in Bournemouth, we went to the local swimming centre, when I got there I realized that I hadn’t my black bikini bottoms, had the top, so went to the nearest tescos store- no swimwear there to purchase, so wait for it got a pack of 2 pairs of black knickers! Determined not to say anything whilst we were queuing to go down the penny drop, but did so telling my now step children what had happened. That story still pops up now and again, all roll up laughing.

The day after my first wedding, my husband and I had to visit a bungalow with a view to buying it before heading off an honeymoon. He was cross because he felt my Mum had arranged it at an inconvenient time. I was defensive because I felt she was trying to help us get the property before it got snatched up. It was also pouring with rain.
When we got there the old lady wouldn't let us near the place and it was a real disaster with a garden of thistles that were taller than than the property and the stems were massive.
As we left, with my husband chuntering about it all being a waste of time, the weather brightened considerably so I decided to open the sun roof of the car. His shouts of "No," did not filter through my brain and as it was a soft sun roof the water that had pooled poured over the pair of us. I couldn't stop laughing. He couldn't stop being angry. The more I laughed, the angrier he got. I should have realised then I had made the most terrible mistake.
My mother went on to buy the property complete with a huge amount of rats who didn't miss the 90 cats the woman had taken with her! They needed a digger to get rid of the weeds and the whole place had to be gutted.

What a lovely start to this thread, and what lovely people you and your son are.
In response to the original subject and funny things which have happened to me: I was away with my son and husband at our caravan and went to sit in one of our camp chairs. Clearly the mature fabric of the chair was unequal to dealing with my mature (OK fat) backside and my rear went straight through the seat, resulting in me being stuck, legs pointing upwards and trapped in the seat frame. My very ungallant son and husband did not rush to my rescue. Rather, after practically wetting themselves laughing at my undignified plight, they rushed to get phone cameras to take unflattering pictures.
You can choose your friends but not your family.....

A bunch of flowers has just arrived from my son ! I did say to him that there was no need but he went and sent some anyway.

Our son asked me if I wanted a trip down memory lane and took me back to what used to be my parents house (long since died) and the house I left on my wedding day for the last time to get married. It was a very sentimental day as my husband had died a few years before. I have all the photos of me leaving our home with my late dad to go to the church.

We parked the car on the road outside my old home, went for a walk about and when we got back to the car, our son answered his mobile phone and said, the door is open mum. I went to the car and tried to open the door and alarms went off, the people who were now livcng in our old home came running out shouting at me for trying to steal their car.

Our son is 6 ft 5 ins tall and built like a brick wall and when he walked up to them they calmed down as our son explained that I used to live in their house and that is where I got married from and just wanted to re-live some memories.

They were very kind after that and invited us in but we thanked them and I said thank you but no, I want to remember what our home looked like all those years ago and not what it looks like now. I apologised for trying to get into their car. They asked me about the house in the 1960's and I told them about the railway line that used to run along the bottom of the garden and where all the massive steam trains used to run especially Sir Nigel Greasley (I also have a photo of that as well). They were very interested as they had lived there a few years and never knew there was a railway line (now disused) buried under lots of trees and bushes now overgrown, they knew about the bridge but didn't know it was a railway bridge.

Anyway, it did give us a laugh as our son whatsapped everybody in our family telling them that mum had tried to break into a car.

How absolutely lovely and so kind of you and your son, making an old ladies day, she will re-live that day over and over again.

It's lovely that the flowers ended up cheering an extra person, as well as the sender and intended recipient.

I used to work in restaurants years ago.

My uniform was black flat shoes, black trousers, white shirt and white under-shirt t-shirt.

Left for work that morning, got on the bus, travelled quite a distance, walked over the road to work, walked in and a colleague said ''your shirt is on inside out!''

AAARRRGGHHHH! I mentally screamed! Ran into the loo fast for a quick change!

We driving down from Yorkshire for a funeral in Wales. I had chosen to travel in what I was going to wear at the service, but DH chose to change into his suit when we got to his sister’s house. We were held up and so late there wasn’t time for him to change anywhere except in the back of the car. As I helped him get his legs into his trousers and he was buttoning his shirt, I looked round and there were people staring in the window at us! I’ve never been so embarrassed. He was knotting his tie as we hurried into the crem and both trying to stop laughing!
