I know it's his money and he can do what he wants with it but 4.9 million for something that will rot in a few days?

The term ''more money than sense'' definitely applies to him!

Banana art is something I can laugh about. Misuse of an apostrophe? Never!!

I heard that he wants to eat the banana to be fully immersed into the artistic experience .

The piece of so called art was purchased by a Chinese cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun who has said he will be eating the Banana this week.

That is a lot of money for a perishable piece of "art." What will happen when the banana rots? Will he replace it with a fresh one? If so, it won't be original any more.

I always used to think art was an elitist kind of thing something I did not really understand but still liked some of the paintings etc, now we have piles of bricks, unmade beds and bananas what on earth sort of world are we living in

Was the banana sprayed with some sort of preservative? Otherwise it will have decomposed.

The plural of banana is bananas. No apostrophe whatsoever. Interestingly - and particularly relevant in this case - this mistake is sometimes termed as inserting a 'greengrocer's apostrophe'.

I really did find this ridiculous. I believe there's been instructions left to replace original banana.
