All I want for Christmas

None of Tizliz's examples were political though - yes most of us know to avoid those if we're feeling thin-skinned - I think it's a fair point, a lot of posters manage to be entertaining without putting other posters down.Some people do seem a bit cross atm.

I mostly avoid the political threads despite sometimes itching to add my pen'ath because I know I'll be shot down in flames.

Maybe there should be a warning
from GNHQ?
Other threads sometimes surprise me but I generally keep to the safe, friendly threads for the sake of my mental health.
GM is very kind and some others.

I think some people need to dive into the deep end. They get bored with mediocrity.

Perhaps I'm odd but I don't really care what people say, write or think about me. I know I'm an OK sort of person, pretty normalish, nothing special, very outspoken, kind and helpful. If people have a problem with me or are rude I just think they have the problem not me. Don't really care what others say or think.

I hope no one read the one that has been deleted on the estrangement forum. I reported it 3 times the OP was vicious and the language was truly vile . Not what you expect on GN.

It is easy to be anonymous on the internet, so people don't have to use the restraints they do in real life. There are a lot of unpleasant people in the world and the internet allows them to show their true nature.

I find it hard to believe how far reaching the effects of trolling on social media have such a profound and damaging effect. To even imagine that because of horrible comments, people are even moved to take their own lives. I am worried for my grandchildren, who spend so much time on their mobile phones these days, they too could be vulnerable. So glad I grew up with none of this technology.

Would be nice if the trolls would give some threads a rest from now on until would love to say ever but that's not going to happen but until into the new year.

We are never going to all agree on every subject (would be rather boring if we did)
But I totally agree.
A while ago I started a thread and received a very judgemental comment from a lady who has never met me and knows very little of my background (only what I've discussed on here). I was so upset and deleted the thread. I sent her a pm asking her to be more considerate in future.
I often notice new members start threads and sadly then disappear.
It's sad to think someone may not have a friend or family member to talk to, they come on here and due to some rather thoughtless comments are to upset or frightened to return
Happily one thread on here today has given excellent advice and support .

There should be no personal criticism, we don't know the O P's personally so we can't judge.

I don't think you can expect everyone to be understanding or benevolent all the time, but being more considerate and not being dismissive would be a start.

I doubt many would contribute to one where they're judged and found lacking in almost every sphere of their lives, either.

Their children, their parents, the phrases they use, their family values, the way they clean their toilets, even!

No, not asking for that, would make a very boring world. It would just be nice if we could accept different opinions without the need to argue so much. Is this asking too much?

I dont think many would read a forum where one person comments then everyone says ‘I agree”.
