Does anyone else feel like this?

My grown family say they will host xmas next year, the first year we haven't hosted. They thought I would be put out because I have always done Xmas, on the contrary I felt like shouting hooray.
As for getting a pity invite, no thank you, like everyone else who has commented above, we would rather spend xmas alone enjoying the calm and eating beans on toast if we feel like it.

I'm the same Daddima I would not want to be invited because they feel they have to. I would be fine on my own but luckily the last few years I've spent with my two sons who live alone too. My DD said I was always welcome at her house but it's a long journey and with arthritic hips not easy.
I am quite independent so don't need invitations but it's always good to see my children over the festive period.

I’m just back from visiting my daughter (just after Christmas - was Home Alone for actual Christmas Day.) I found the train travel absolutely horrendous, what with engineering works, rail replacement buses, overloaded trains etc (had to stand for 2 hours.) When I got back home I was completely wiped out and slept for 13 hours. I’m thinking of saying I really want to miss out on the stress next year, and maybe visit more often when it’s better weather and not around Bank Holidays!

A few mini breaks during the run up to Christmas?

We take several 4-6 day mini breaks mid November until Epiphany. The weather is not the best here, but delightful other places.

The Bodach and I had gone away for Christmas as soon as we had no dependent relatives, and I have continued to do so. However, my health is not getting any better, so I don't know for how long I'll be able to travel. I hate the idea of my family and/or friends feeling they 'have to" invite me, and would honestly rather spend the day on my own.

Well, when that non-travelling day arrives, just tell anyone who might ask you how much you are looking forward to being alone over Christmas and how you hope no one will ask you to share their Christmas and if they do, just say 'no thank you, we decided long ago, as you know, that we want to spend Christmas quietly on our own.

I am sure lots of people feel like that, and if they don't, well. so what?

We had Christmas alone this year and we loved it.........just the two of us, eating when we liked and not having the stress of entertaining.
Our AC and GC are families in their own right - we saw them all on Christmas Eve and they messaged or called on Christmas morning.
Planning on going away next Christmas though, health permitting.
