I could refuse to pay my TV licence and go to prison, I suppose.

Are you allowed the internet? Could I still access Gransnet?

don’t matter.

It’s when it pushes Corrie off to make way for it. Emmerdale, however, remains untouched! I know Corrie is largely rubbish but it’s my rubbish as addicted since 1960. They never make announcements about the change and treat us as if we just done matter..😭

There would still be room for them Maybee.
Although every time I walked into the sitting room this afternoon and evening there seemed to be a football or rugby match on.

I don't mind a bit of sport on TV but enough is enough.

And I had enough of the terminally boring snooker too not long ago!

Rather than on a dedicated channel?

I really enjoy rubbish tv on a Saturday night so why should it be disrupted by sport? Couldn't there be a dedicated BBC sports channel?

Yes, why not use the useless, unpopular BBC3 for a dedicated sports channel?

Some of the best comedies started off on BBC3. Fleabag, The Mighty Boosh, Bad Education. Also Gavin and Stacey ( wonder what happened to that grin.

I think you will find that sport is more popular than ‘rubbish TV’!
I know what I would rather watch.

No-one is denying that people like to watch sport on television.
However, taking normal programmes off when the BBC has another channel, BBC3, unpopular and with few viewers which could be used for sport, is not catering to the majority of licence players.

Sky Arts is devoted to great guitar riffs tonight. So that’s my evening sorted!

They also do really good documentaries on singers/groups in the 60s/70s. Have watched many of them, they can last a couple of hours so you need to have the time, but is well worth it in my opinion.

I always mean to check what’s on Sky Arts each day, do it for a while and then forget, just when there’s something really good on. Thankfully they’re usually repeated (eg the recent one about The Yardbirds). One of these days they’re going to stop Sky Arts being free to air and I’ll have to start paying ( but don’t tell them that!).

They put whichever programmes are likely to get the highest viewing figures at that particular time on BBC One, so I think it’s fair that sport gets to be shown on there when it’s a big match.

Sorry kittylester, we have enjoyed watching the rugby on ITV and some of the football on the BBC today. I guess it’s a case of one person’s rubbish is another’s gold.

You could say, why should the BBC be disrupted by rubbish tv on a Saturday night?😄
If sport is on I just do other things.

Jaxjacky Sat 08-Feb-25 20:15:59

Sport is on occasionally, Strictly, which we don’t watch, was on for weeks and weeks.
Enjoying the FA cup and the Six Nations.

MayBee70 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:48:54

Sky Arts is free on either channel 11 or36

MayBee70 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:47:24

I just watch most things on iplayer, especially as with most programmes you can access the whole series straight away. I think there’s only sport on BBC1 ? A lot of people can’t afford to subscribe to sports channels but wanted to watch the FA cup and England playing France at rugby.

Babs03 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:33:10

Well that would be nice but sadly most dedicated sports channels require a hefty subscription. Most footy games - unless they are FA or women’s footy - can no longer be viewed on terrestrial channels.
Tonight my OH is enjoying watching footy on BBC, we had to give up subscriptions when it became too expensive, usually he has to listen on the radio. So am afraid I can’t agree.
