Gym Changing Rooms

Maybe it's one of those basic instincts we have. If someone is already in a certain place then it's safe and there's safety in numbers.
I think it's the same if you see say an empty cafe. I'm quite happy to go in and sit alone but once people see someone else is there they come in.

Sassenach 512 Having been a caravanner for over 40 years I'd suspect you picked the best spot (for various reasons) so others will find something about the area too hence the follow suit mentality.
Can't figure out the changing room synario though unless perhaps best spot for privacy, security, nearest showers.

I get this on trains. In a completely empty carriage someone plonks themselves next to me. Why? They don’t want to chat or anything, they just decide to plonk.
Am really not tolerating this anymore. The past couple of times this happened I got up and went to sit elsewhere. Is just daft.

I hate that! I feel it’s an invasion of personal space.

Same in car parks, on buses, on trains, on park benches, in cafes!

Why, oh why, when there is space aplenty do people do this?

This reminds me of being on the beach as a child when my father always complained about people “ formating “ on us .
This was an RAF expression he used during the war , referring to the Luftwaffe flying a bit too close for comfort.

There are only a few cubicles at my David Lloyd, but since I like my privacy I always use one. What’s annoying is the odd person who thinks the can ‘bag’ one by leaving all their stuff in it.

Next time I see this, I’ve got a good mind to shove it all in the nearest empty locker - always plenty of those since I don’t go at very busy times.

This sometimes happens at our swimming pool, despite notices saying that you shouldn’t do it, and that stuff left will be put into lost property, which never happens. Lockers are provided, £1 which you get back each time. There again, some stick their stuff in lockers but don’t lock them, meaning you open half a dozen only to find they are in use.

This type of behaviour irks me.

One leisure attendant told me to just move stuff out of cubicles if left in there, but really don’t like to do that.

The staff should, it would soon put a stop to it.

I notice similar behaviours in car parks..........it can be almost empty but I can guarantee the next vehicle to arrive will park RIGHT NEXT TO ME! Bloody morons!

That always happens to us. We say our car must have a magnetic personality!

Maybe you were sitting next to the locker she always uses - I have noticed (and do it myself) that people like to use the same locker or area each time they come.

Dh used to get sooo annoyed when he was taking photos of steam trains. He would arrive an hour early find a good far from people spot and wait, only to have someone come and stand in front of him just as the train was about to go pass.

Beaches are the same Panglas ✅ in fact any open space, most odd and at times irritating.

Ì thought from the title that this would be about male bodied people walking about naked in women's changing rooms.

It happens to me/us in bars, restaurants, cinemas, on beaches all the time

I would never park myself down next to other folks unless the place was absolutely jam packed.

I understand how you feel . Last week on the bus that was almost empty a woman sat beside me - and she had a load of shopping bags too! It wasn't as though she was lonely and fancied a chat , she never said a word. There were lots of empty seats !!

I do like my space. I wouldn’t sit or park next to you if there was space elsewhere!

Maybe they have stowed their stuff in a locker you are sitting in front of ?

I wonder if some people panic at the amount of space available and just go to where others are?

People are funny aren't they?

I never could figure out why people parked as close the gym building as they could and then went in to get some exercise!

We get this so much when we caravan, we set up in a open area, lots of pitches to choose from and you can bet by the end of the day we'll have a caravan either side of us and someone sitting in their caravan watching us eat dinner! it's called 'sod's law'
