Unsolicited Mail with request to pay

Has anyone else recently received these mailings?

Today we received a set of 5 Christmas cards plus a tiny calendar 📅, for a fee of £12 :00
with a letter & various payment options .

This is cold calling by mail in my mind from a charity’Mouth & Foot Painting. Artists’
You can pay by DD or return !!

The questions that come to mind are 5 cards plus a tiny calendar 📅 is not worth £12:00
So , do you send back or do you keep them but not pay ??
While I appreciate the fact that a lot of effort plus talent has gone into these the fact is I didn’t request them .
Also , how many people are literally either not going to open the envelope or not pay .
A waste of money is my thoughts , I’m sure GNetters will have lots to say on this .
The other question is ‘WHY’ would a charity send these out ?
The cost of printing , Posting plus the £12:00 is in my pov ludicrous!

We used to receive these every year
I just stuck them back in the postbox with the return address showing. And I didn't pay postage either

I too have received these cards and confess I just bin them in recycling as I didn’t request them and they are not to my taste. I always feel guilty tho!

I received the pack of cards too. I will not use them as the recipient would see them as a "free" card. I'm going to hand them in to a charity shop. At least a charity will benefit quote fromKittyPamela .

Kitty Pamela don’t be too sure a charity will benefit from them Our charity shop won’t sell other charities cards as we have our own so they d go in the kitchen for any takers and then in the recycling bin I m sure other charity shops will do the same

I often get these and others they go in recycling bin… nothing so far this yea, fingers crossed

I have had these unsolicited as well . I just threw them in my recycling box . Never heard anything again from them. For a charity they must waste a lot of money on sending out all these unsolicited mail . I do wonder how many people do respond.
I made sure though that when electoral register form came to make sure that we were opted out of the public version as companies /charity’s but them to use for junk mail

Take babs03 advice and email them. I remember this type of thing happening quite often at Christmas when l was a young child on the early Sixties.

Several national Charities seemed to do a country wide Christmas mass mail out. Maybe done on their behalf by a third part marketing company?

It was probably a very worthy charity but really played on people's heartstrings with guilt.

Including my father.

Plus the Charity scene was hugely different then. Really modest. Few charities and shops compared to now.

They knew that a good per cent of people would cough up, and they would make more than it cost them to do a mass send out..

Think this sort thing would now be illegal

I used to get them. I threw the last lot in the bin. never heard another word from them

I do think those people who paint so well with no hands are remarkable, it must be so difficult to get work. What would I do in their position?. I would send what you think appropriate or ignore if you object.

Well, you are certainly NOT obliged to pay! You could mark the envelope "Not known" and "Please return to " . . .whatever address they have on the envelope. Or you could use the stuff if you like.

No, I've no idea how they make any money, and I really don't care, life's too short!

I hand make my Christmas cards, so these unsolicited cards would be useless to me. I always donate to my two favourite charities, one local & one national, instead of buying charity cards. If any were to come through my door I would return them via the post box, without a stamp.

Unsolicited begging/guilt-tripping. Arrogant too. Bin them - they're poor quality tripe anyway.

Imagine you are working for a charity and your job is to increase income and raise funds.
Unsolicited mail is one of the tools you could use. I donate regularly to help brain damaged children. I received raffle tickets in the post and this nudged me into making a donation,
I had a choice, I chose to donate but I could have chosen to put the mail in the bin or ignore it. There is no need for Gransnetters to get on their high horse. Just thank your lucky stars if you don’t have any brain damaged children,

Spam them. Nasty people I would not trust a door to door chap so why trust this. You can buy your stuff by going up to local shops. These are shysters.

I send all junk mail back, if addressed to me I cross out and put return to send and better still if not addressed just goes back in letter box

I received them in the past in France. I crossed out my address and put return to sender, not known at this address and reposted them without opening them. After many years they finally stopped.

I've not received them in recent years, but would normally just put the in the bin.

They've been doing this for decades, although it must be at least 12 years since I last received them. I never used or retured them but passed them on to an elderly relative who was on a tight budget.

We used to get these year after year but not for a long time.
I just ignored them.

Same. If I could be bothered I’d sometimes scrawl out my address and put Return to Sender on it and stick it in the postbox without a stamp.

I've had these cards sent to me a couple of times, I don't want them I make my own cards, why should I have to go out of my way to return them. I used to return junk mail when I was fit to walk to the post box, but I cut it into tint pieces first,,,

I'd either not open it so wouldn't know what's in it.. It would go straight in the recycling like all junk mail. If I opened it the same thing would happen because I don't send Christmas cards.
If a company sends me something then asks me to pay for it if return it, I'm laughing at them. I'm not paying for something I didn't ask for nor want and I'm not going out of my way to post it back. They shouldn't waste money like that and the complain about it.

Gosh -five cards and little calendar for £12 and you feel obliged to buy them because they've posted them to you .
It's a bit cheeky ,isn't it ?
Yesterday I bought a mystery box of 30 cards from Oxfam for £2.99 .
I prefer religious cards and they are secular though there is a peace dove amongst them .
I dislike five of then which are decorated with bovines otherwise they are perfectly acceptable.
My friends are complaining about the cost of Christmas and it is crazy .
Would you pay 30 quid for a bottle nail polish ?
I tend to buy through the year at sale time .

Pop them back in post box”Return to sender”. (And sing that in an Elvis voice!

Just scribble out your address and write “not requested please return to sender” and put in the post box.

I received these too on Monday... Threw them in the bin.

I thought I remembered from mail shots years ago that this group were at pains to point out they are not a charity. I've just googled and it seems the company is a for profit company. No need to feel guilt tripped.
