I’m going on holiday this month and I’m really looking forward to a warm and sunny week. Here’s a photograph of my previous holiday, no strokes holding me back.

I actually don't have anything at the moment, since we have put any plans on hold because of DH's medical issues and treatments. Hopefully we will see some improvement in about 6 weeks, then I can plan a visit to my DD in Victoria.

I'm not complaining, mind you, but I must just live vicariously through all of your adventures! It's lovely to hear all of your plans. Keep us posted on how things go.

Congrats to those of you in new homes, what a big upheaval.

Looking forward to spending Christmas with my grandchildren as they live in America I only see them a couple of times a year.

We are heading south in December. I'm going to see Cliff Richard at the Brighton Centre with my oldest friend, known each other since 4 years old. Meeting another friend tge day after. Then spending a few days with another dear friend and having a "Little Christmas" with her, her DD and SIL before we head back up north for the rest of December. So excited.

DGD1's 18th birthday party next week; it's a very posh do with bar and restaurant booked at the university. Not quite black tie, but almost; we have been told to dress to the nines!

Enjoying reading these responses! Coincidentally, I have just started a thread on whether people prefer 'anticipation' or just being 'surprised!' I think this thread answers my question. grin

Romola, hope it doesn't take too long.

Winniewit, hope you enjoy your sparkling very new version of Christmas.

That wall of boxes will melt away, slowly and surely and at your own rate, now that the big rush is over.
We were going through the same a year ago.
Enjoy

I'm looking forward to getting my sight back in my left eye after a cataract went catastrophic. Don't know when though.

I'm looking forward to doing my final work shift/quitting on the 1st of December, then just totally unwinding and basically doing nothing until the 2nd week of January when I start a totally new job in a new area.

Also, I'm looking forward to a huge glass ... or 2 ... of Baileys tonight with a jammy doughnut!

God, I'd love a jammy doughnut at the moment.
But we are off to Spain for Christmas next month, coming back towards the end of January so I will be sure to enjoy some churros/roscos while we're there.
(Yes, I know churros aren't the same at all but they will certainly do!)

I look forward to every single day I wake up. I can't wait for the dawn and find myself twiddling thumbs until I can leap out of bed. Then the day starts......it can be anything, but what is priceless is........freedom. Freedom to do anything I want. Be with friends, not be with friends. Go to groups, walking, gardening, cooking, sharing, drinking, shopping, eating out, because having good health is also another priceless thing. So two things I love and value to give me greater freedom are freedom and good health. Those are the things I love to look forward to more of.

I'm looking forward to going out for Christmas Day lunch with my son. We've done it every year since my DH died 9 years ago. We have no extended family to speak of and my son never married, so it's just the two of us. It's a distraction but a very pleasant one. We always get a taxi so I can enjoy a couple of my favourite cocktails.

Now that really is something to look forward to. Add a good book, or, at present a new issue of a house magazine, and it is near to Nirvana.

I am looking forward to seeing a production of Ballet Shoes (Noel Streatfield) at the National Theatre, Southbank with my sister in December, we both adored the book as children.

P.S. took DD to see War Horse at the National many many years ago, we both cried, so much better than the film.

Wishing you all the best in your new home. I am dreading our next move, it is without doubt the most stressful time. Sleep well tonight!

Aldom Mon 03-Nov-25 04:54:40

Hi Monica

I can't sleep either grin
Congratulations on actually moving in to your new home. I hope it won't be long before you feel settled.
I'm sort of dreading seeing all the boxes again later this morning!
I moved out of the house in Oxfordshire on Thursday and have stayed the weekend with my family who relocated to Shropshire in the summer.
Wishing you all the very best MOnica. flowers

Tomorrow, Monday I am moving into my new home. After all the stress involved with selling and buying properties it will be wonderful to be living normal life again. That is, of course, once I get over the upheaval of unpacking boxes and arranging furniture. But still something to look forward to. smile

I will be thinking of you and wishing you every happiness in your new home. We have been sharing what have been parallel journeys.

We are spending our first night in our new home. We bought the house in late August, but the central heating needed renewing (and everything else), but we couldn't move in until we had heating and hot water. Its installation was much delayed, but it was completed on Thursday and we moved in over the weekend.

The only thing is I cannot sleep. I am not sure whether it is the several glasses of prosecco I drank to celebrate the event or the fact that my upper arms, calves and hips are aching from a weekend of carrying things up and down stairs and in and out of the car.

For the last 4 months we have been living with our DD. It has worked very well, but she is as happy to have her house back to herself as wr are to be back in our own home.-
