Things to look forward to.

Madmeg, I am so happy for you and your family. At least you can have hope now. I will keep my fingers crossed.
What I am looking forward to is spending Christmas with my lovely family who, thankfully, all live locally. The icing on the cake is that, 17 years after the last grandson, I will have a 6-month old great-grandson to love and cuddle then too! Can’t wait!

I am looking forward to watching Mr. Burton on catchup tonight after all the glowing reports posters on GN have given it.

What exciting news, Madmeg; this little one will be so wanted. I am short of things to look forward to, but finding my lost wedding ring would be the best thing possible,

Oh boy this thread is timely for me and DH cos we are (prematurely maybe?) celebrating the fact that our youngest DD (age 42) is 8 weeks pregnant after her fourth round of IVF., costing £40k. Neither parent has any medical reason for the lack of "natural" success, but cos of her age the odds were naturally lower.

The first two rounds were unsuccessful and the third resulted in an early miscarriage.

There was also a serious disaster with the third attempt which I won't go into here, but after paying extra for genetic testing she has had a successful implantation and we have a photo of the first scan.

Of course anything could go wrong but apparently cos of the genetic testing the chances are the same as for any woman of her age.

Our other GC (eldest DD's) are 13 and 11 so the new baby won't grow up with them, and my DH is 79 on Saturday.

The baby will be ultra special to its other GF cos neither of his other two DCs have children.

Things I'm looking forward to are = the inter house music competition at my grandson's school (they have some wonderful musicians among the boys) -The carol service (we went last year and it was a lovely evening) - and a big firework display at the end of term. These are all things my daughter will be going to anyway so I don't have to do any planning, just go with her and enjoy.

In January I'm going on a behind the scenes tour of the Natural History Museum, with U3A. This is an absolute dream for me, because the museum has been my favourite place in the world since I was six!

Hidden Treasures, behind the scenes at the Natural History Museum is on utube. I can’t remember which channel it was on originally ( or if it is on catchup somewhere) but I remember enjoying the series a year or so ago.

DeeDaa I am so envious. I have loved the Natural History Museum ever since I was a child too. I used to travel up regularly from East London on the tube. I sometimes went to talks in the lecture room. Happy days.

My trip to Spain was very enjoyable, the weather was perfect (not too hot), our visit to the Alhambra was wonderful but best of all my sister is happy in her new home and although very frail she was in good spirits.
On Saturday I'm going to stay with my daughter as her OH is away at a conference in the US. She's booked a trip to a spa with a massage for me. No doubt we'll do a bit of shopping too. I love spending time with her on her own.

I don't think I have anything to look forward to ... no holidays ... no money. But I do look forward to seeing my family and friends. I must admit to feeling envious of people who can afford holidays.

I take coach day trips, very reasonable and give me a complete change of scene.

One of the highlights of my year is going to see Shen Yun every January. It's my birthday treat from DH, who isn't at all interested in dance but comes with me every year and sits through it happily because I love it so much.

I've just ordered a table and chairs and a full length mirror for my new home. I need a different shaped table to fit in this house. I've given my original table and chairs to a family member who is buying a first home.
Looking forward to the arrival of my new furniture. I've missed the table.

Yesterday DD suggested going to a firework display on Friday evening. I am looking forward to that.

I'm going to see Miss Saigon later this month with my daughter, granddaughter and DD's mother-in-law. Then in Decmber, The Bootleg Beatles with DD and my sister.

Like Warbler I look forward to to each day and try to enjoy the small things. In particular though at the moment I am looking forward to attending a concert with DD2 on Saturday and later in the month a few days away with friends who we only get to see a couple of times each year.

Oh dear, I must sound very sad but I’m really, really looking forward to reading the next book in the Slough House series.
I’ve bought the lot but only allow myself one every four books.

Going g to Christmas at Kew with my younger daughter and her children, it's magical!

I’m looking forward to seeing The Sound of Music on stage at the Curve in Leicester with my DD1. It was my 70th birthday present from her and we rarely do anything together so a real treat

Had some growths burnt off under my bust, LSS, they got infected & had to be dressed, so looking forward to a long, hot soak in the bath after the dressings are removed tomorrow ☺️

I went to the final London performance of War Horse. Totally fantastic.

I am looking forward to my daughter taking me to the Theatre in the next town to see Omid Djalili on Friday - and possibly Fireworks on Saturday.
