After watching Zack Polanski on Laura K this morning … how could anyone put their faith in him as a leader? None of the other party leaders are without fault!!! But he comes over as a vacuous, self promoting individual … The Green Party has changed!

Marg75- 10.54.

It is indeed factually the case that Hannah Spencer, the Green Party candidate won the Gorton and Denton by election emphatically thereby 'trouncing' Reform and Labour- or 'leaving them well behind' if that form of words is preferred.

Voting in all elections is "looked at". Farage has hypocritically made a complaint to the police and alleged "cheating". He only alleges cheating when Reform loses. E.g. he did not allege "cheating" when Reform won the Helmsby and Runcorn by election by just 6 votes ahead of Labour. However there is no evidence to support his claim.

We all await the police statement in due course with interest. . Hannah Spencer won by over 4,000 votes, in anybody's book a convincing win that Farage et al will necessarily need to accept. They would be better spending their time not moaning, complaining and whining but looking at the reasons why the voters preferred the Green Party candidate well above the respective Reform and Labour candidates. Conservative candidate performed so abysmally they lost their deposit- not remotely electable.

Did you read how he 'trounced' Reform and Labour' the whole voting in that election is being looked at.

It’s being looked at because Farage/ Reform complained, personally I think Hannah won, on the behalf of the Greens because she appeals to the electorate and got out there knocking on doors and campaigning.

LemonJam Mon 02-Mar-26 11:22:37

Cossy, I agree. She appealed to all sections of her electorate sufficiently to win so emphatically. She also most importantly was sufficiently inclusive to appeal to a sizeable majority of voters.

I don't think that someone's appearance has any bearing at all on their leadership qualities.

As to his abilities as a war leader. I can't say that our immaculately groomed and suited PM is doing much of a job as such, allowing the perpetrator of an illegal war to use our military bases (after initially saying that he wouldn't).

I really don't understand why people think that politicians who achieve power are immediately ready to deal with national security and war. None of them are.

eazybee Mon 02-Mar-26 11:43:12

As I said, it will be interesting to see how she performs.

Let’s just be sensible for a moment, I agree the world of the “two party” political system might be numbered BUT we have had three “credible”, (for want of a better word), and independents standing for decades.

Let’s remember, particularly under our FPTP system that both Greens and Reform are still very much in the minority in terms of representation in parliament.

I think this result reflects badly on Labour and should give them time to reflect and a wake up call.

I still think it’s great to bring some “real life” and “normality” into our HoC.

Cossy Mon 02-Mar-26 12:36:52

*three credible parties! Fingers cannot keep up with my mad frazzled brain! Haha

Doversole Mon 02-Mar-26 13:53:12

Green Party doesn’t seem to be so much about saving the planet and the environment any more.

If I’m reading it right, the focus seems to be more on open borders, trans rights, Islam and wealth redistribution. But I might have got it wrong.

spabbygirl Mon 02-Mar-26 13:58:53

I puzzled about why he doesn't stand for election? He was bought up in Manchester but didn't stand last week. How would it work if he won an election in the future then?
It's odd that he seems to want to be in politics & leads a political party yet doesn't want to be elected?
He does too much slagging off others for my liking. He's not a patch on Caroline Lucas. Keir is doing a great job & will get my vote next time

pluckyluckyme Mon 02-Mar-26 14:13:43

I find him sound and he has stood up very well in debates etc. He does make sure of his facts and at least has genuine beliefs. If he looked like Robert Redford or George Clooney I guess by the comments here he might get more votes from people here.

'Sure of his facts' - you mean like how he thinks a woman can have a penis?

jomo Mon 02-Mar-26 14:56:45

Awful man 👨 😞 not like him first time seen him angry

MayBee70 Mon 02-Mar-26 15:02:06

When I see him on tv I’m very aware of his drama background. He is a showman and I sometimes think he uses his appearance for effect. He was in the LibDems for a long time but switched to the Greens.

Robin202 Mon 02-Mar-26 15:03:13

Would you trust a guy to lead the country, who persuaded women he could enlarge their breasts through hypnosis?

Not only that, he wants to legalise hard drugs, crack cocaine, Heroin and the date rape drug and also prostitution/sex work - says it should be like any other service: hairdressing, nail bars etc. Just imagine the fallout from that - sex traffickers would be rubbing their hands with glee.
He also wants to offer illegal migrants free housing, healthcare and a wage and is a believer in free borders.

avitorl Mon 02-Mar-26 15:04:40

I saw him on Last Leg and got the impression that he would rather be a comedian than a politician.

What can you say about a man who changed his name to Zach Polanski?

Is he the love child of the infamous Roman Polanski ?

He is a real wannabe and grade one tosser.

Yaawnnnnn🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱

Romola Mon 02-Mar-26 15:12:16

The Green Party is basically the new Jeremy Corbyn party (what's it called?).

Marg75 Mon 02-Mar-26 15:16:54

Now we really are getting some sense on here

icanhandthemback Mon 02-Mar-26 15:27:46

Not only that, he wants to legalise hard drugs, crack cocaine, Heroin and the date rape drug...

This is a huge reason not to have him in power. Wherever I have been in the world where drugs have been legalised, it has been awful. We watched people openly jacking up whilst eating our meal in a restaurant. Do we really want our children exposed to such behaviour. The addicts didn't trouble us on the whole although they were frightening with their shouting and screaming as they were coming down. However, when they were high, they were just like statues and it was horrible.

Migration hasn't really worked either. In an ideal world, I would love to see all borders taken away but we don't live in an ideal world. Without integrating everything properly it would be a disaster and we know just how the powers currently manage that.

I voted Green at a local level but have no desire to see them with their current policies in power at a National Level.

Purplelavender Mon 02-Mar-26 15:34:33

We need a completely different mindset to deal with today's world problems. So far none of the traditional parties have come close to finding a way through these issues. For the most part there seems to be a lot of burying heads in the sand about our current crisis. Maybe the Greens offer something that shows a more holistic and interconnected way of approaching a world crisis.

Allira Mon 02-Mar-26 15:37:53

I did not vote for them locally but they formed a coalition with Labour anyway.

Some of their decisions re the environment and building locally have been hypocritical.

To be fair it was his family surname but they changed it to escape anti semitism.

Movinghouseplanner Mon 02-Mar-26 15:48:55

Zack doesnt have any real ideas about economics, vital for a leader.

eazybee Mon 02-Mar-26 15:54:55

Look him up on Wikipedia. It makes interesting reading.

ArthurAskey Mon 02-Mar-26 15:59:54

Mad Zack went for the Muslim vote . As a Jew he will soon find out what they want in return. Sharia law and exemption from UK laws for starters. Greens are no longer the party that used to concern itself with environmental issues.
