I would love to know about other members' blogs and websites. I have one of each, both to support my family history research:
and my website at

I get quite annoyed when I hear about retired folk not being able to cope with technology so let's see what others are up to! smile

I don't have a blog but I love You Tube and Facebook and also shop online quite a bit.

I manage a charity for older people (I am 58) and we've recently got Lottery funding to set up an intergenerational IT Project. We have 20 older people, matched with 20 university students and the young people are teaching our members how to use computers. It is successful beyond my wildest dreams and a joy to behold; not least of all, young people, to whom IT is second nature, having to really think about how they pass on their skills and knowledge to older people.

Hi. I would be lost without my computer - it gets a good bashing every day with email, website maintenance, Facebook, Photoshop, and most of the Office programs. Have just bought a new digital camera and a small handheld digital sound recorder which is brilliant! Plan to make recordings of the choir and our new ring of bells to go on YouTube...more to learn!

The website is

If you'd like other Gransnetters to be able to click on your links, use double square brackets either side of your web address to make it a live link (there's some more instructions further down this page on the right).

I'm a specialist reading tutor and have my own website (very challenging content, be warned grin) about teaching dyslexics/struggling readers how to read.

Cumpstonresearcher I love your websites.

Great websites. I've bookmarked yours to read later geekygran, very interesting. I've been teaching my 4 year old granddaughter to read using synthetic phonics and a computer programme called 'Reading Eggs' which has been brilliant.

I spent the first 3 years of my retirement looking after my grandaughter. When they moved to Hampshire I needed something to take my mind off it so I devised my own website http//

I have just finished a course in Creative Writing with the OU which is mainly an on line course and shortly will be having a short story published so I am well into my computer and use it daily for writing, banking, shopping, researching. I have just started putting together my own blog so more news when I am a bit further down the roadsmile

Here is my friend's blog. She adopted 3 kids in her 40s and went through some awful times, including being very ill. She is a brilliant writer. Highly recommended

I started a blog in August because I was determined to learn how it's done. You can find me at
It's a work in progress...

I have a blog at:

I am the carer for my wife who has young onset dementia. The blog is a kind of therapy for me. I'm trying to learn more about, and spread awareness of, this cruel diease. Comments are most welcome.

Nice looking blog feetlebaum - and congratulations for having recovered (and been discharged!) after lung cancer.
I have 2 blogs. One is about the latest research into the immune system. Most of this research is, of course, incomprehensible unless you already have a PHd in immunology, which I don't - but I try to pick out interesting bits and make them comprehensible. The other is more down to earth - what's the science behind health claims and marketing. I would love some "followers"!

Butty Fri 07-Dec-12 14:37:47

Jess I signed in a few weeks ago - but the page says you have no followers!

JessM Fri 07-Dec-12 15:15:02

oo thanks. Will have to try to fix that. Cheers.

JessM Fri 07-Dec-12 19:56:43

I think it works. You have to fill in one of those boxes where there is a word a computer can't read and then you get an email and click the link on the email.
"Comments" would be nice as well.

I am currently estranged from my adopted daughter leaving me unable to see my 2 granddaughters. No matter how often I’ve told my daughter that I love her and then she wants complete control over her kids and won’t let us see them for no apparent reason. My heart is broken about this. Any advise?
