In our last guest blog post before Christmas, Gwenda Gofton explains how her US road trip as a young nurse in the 1950s led to her becoming a cover girl at the age of 77.

I received this book last Christmas and loved it. Well done to Gwenda for saving all the letters, and to her and her companions for surviving so many adventures, and an extra well done to Barbara who turned the story into such an entertaining book. As a retired nurse myself I thought all the time I was reading it "why didn't I do that?" But my children reminded me that when I finished my training I went to Iran by bus and there met and eventually married the most wonderful man. smile It seems us nurses are an adventurous lot!! I would love to know what happened after they returned to UK and how their lives panned out.

Many thanks for sending the book Reckless. I'm trying to finish it before the TV programme starts on 27th. Will report back then.
Merry festive season to everyone
Really enjoy info from Gransnet.

I've just finished reading Gwenda's book this morning and was quite tearful when she was saying all of her goodbyes on leaving America. What wonderful experiences and so many friends who have stayed in contact ever since. I live near to Gwenda in the town where her husband lived.
