From recent experience it's putting things in their mouths, pulling things over - especially when trying to stand up, and they love emptying bookshelves! Basically move everything at floor level likely to be a hazard

Once they can get up on their feet the climbing starts, I found that hairier than the crawling when generally they can be contained!

Absent my DD has just recently told me that one. I am still not sure why except that I think you would need to poke a wire into both the sockets of any plug at the same time to get a shock.

I think when your own kids are growing up you can anticipate and deal with the hazards as they start to occur when your children move about.

With my DGS I had 30 odd years to forget whar toddlers are like, but in general I found the skills came back to you pretty quickly. Sharp corners to bang heads on. tables, small things that should not go into mouths etc.

I found my "what dangerous thing is he going to do next" instincts kicked back in pretty quickly.

I was told by an electrician that I shouldn't use socket covers.

Have you forgotten how to do this?

Degree of baby proofing depends on what your home contains and whether or not baby going to be fully supervised by adoring grandparent, or whether grandparent has other people or tasks to do. A crawling aged baby is most likely to pull things over onto them but is not going to spend time poking hairpins in plug sockets or opening bottles of bleach. (that comes later )

Wies, heavy objects that can fall on you, papers that you dont want ripped or eaten!

Move all medicines. Move all detergents etc.
Get on your hands and knees, imagine you are a baby and can now crawl, and see what you can get at that you shouldnt!

Unless you want to childproof the whole place its probably easier to childproof one room but not always practical. Socket covers , gates for stairways, moving everything precious out of harms way unless someone is going to watch said grandchild all the time.. its not easy that's for sure.
