Geraldine has said that I may post the following -

On September 14th, my son, Matt Warren, will be abseiling from the roof of St Pancras Station. He is endeavoring to raise donations for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. His father served in the Royal Marines. It would please me no end if just a few of you lovely lot would care to support him. The website for donating online is -

Apart from you lovely lot, a few kind residents of our village will also be helping to raise donations. I'm truly blest. flowers

soop it's a great cause and will be a great adventure - and I for one am very happy that people (including many, many Gransnetters) are so willing to generously give of their time, talents and hard earned cash to aid others.

So far Matt has raised just over £1000 in sponsorship. The village people are also contributing. Every little helps enormously. smile

smile Ella and Nellie...I think that the aim of £10,000 might be a tad over-optimistic. However, whatever the final sum, I'm feel sure that it will be used in a good cause. smile

Surprised to see [in the village shop] that a member of the House of Lords has sponsored Matt. Many thanks, kind sir! flowers

Matt throws himself off abseils from the roof of St Pancras Station tomorrow lunch time. His fundraising effort is continuing to reap rewards. So far, thanks to support from Gransnet members, The Lady readers, villagers hereabouts, an article in the Telegraph and the just giving website he's raised £5019.01. Efforts to reach the target of £10,000 will continue until Christmas. I'm very grateful to you lot and, what's more, I'm proud of him. smile flag

You lot never cease to amaze me. Matt has emailed to say a big thankyou to Granny23 and Nanadog ...and it's a huge warm thank you from me.

My ex husband and his partner will be there to support Matt. We'll be phoned shortly after and hear all about it. Week tomorrow, family gathering at middle son's home in Rutland. Very excited. We have fun. Wee Man could prove to be a handful if allowed at St Pancras. Would almost certainly finish up on Eurostar...in the driver's cab. grin
