Have you heard of Lend With Care?

Instead of simply donating, you make a loan (min £15) to one or more people running or starting a small business in a low-income country.

The money is repaid and you can loan again with it.

If you use this link, you'll be given £15 to start you off (I don't get anything).

Someone? As soon as I read the thread and saw the £15 off special offer it just looked like all those gambling offers that pop up. I don't open links that are shared on threads. That is widely known to be a dodgy thing to do.
I happily give to charities rather than expect to be repaid
Now. See if you can work out why I'm not apologising.

Let’s hope someone looks at this thread again and apologises.

Aldom

Sorry you were reported NitWhitt.
This is an excellent charity and well worth supporting. Thank you for bringing it to the attention of a wider audience.

A brilliant charity and one we support. Thank you NitWhitt.

My dd regularly lends small sums with lend with care and has always been repaid. It’s a brilliant way to help mainly women start a small business which brings in income to support the family.

This is an excellent idea. Many of us have so much in comparison to people in other countries. All the money that was spent (wasted) on Christmas presents that no one wants could have been used in this kind of way. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Thank you so much to those who have joined up. I'm delighted my post has had that result.
And thank you also to those who already support Lend With Care.

I've been lending with them for several years and I've never had a defaulted loan.
It's wonderful that quite small amounts can make big differences in people's lives. sunshine

Yes, a worthwhile charity.

Thanks for the link. Just joined and made 2 loans. I think it feels good to help and will be interesting to see what happens.

Thank you NittWitt. I've never heard of this charity - but have just joined and will let other members of my family and friends know about it toothanks

I love this charity. It's sort of along the lines of 'Give a man a fish and he can eat. Teach a man to fish and he can eat for a lifetime'.

For quite a long time we used to support a woman's co-operative in Africa that ran along the same lines, giving people the means to support themselves.

Yes, I've seen the adverts on TV also. Not often but they do appear.

Been donating to this for years. Every loan has been repaid in full.

They do a lot of work on the ground and it's unfortunate that people don't undertake research before randomly reporting a post.

NittWitt Sun 19-Jan-25 11:15:41

I just thought I'd post about it because of the offer of £15 towards a first loan, for anyone who uses the code.

The people involved ask for very small loans to make a big difference in their lives and they repay it, meaning the money can be used again.

Wyllow3 Sun 19-Jan-25 10:59:03

Checked up, its been around for some time - see this article -
www.theguardian.com/money/2013/aug/10/lend-with-care-help-poorer-entrepreneurs

Seems as valid as other causes that have appeared on GN.

petra Sun 19-Jan-25 10:58:29

NittWitt
I know it’s not easy but try to ignore the ignorance.

Ive lent money for years. It helps an awful lot of people.
