We're far too sloppy casual for dedicated welcomes, Aurelia. Just pitch in and enjoy the fun!

Welcome Aurelia, I love France and I spend all my holidaays there smile

Aurelia Sun 12-Jun-11 00:28:11

Hello everyone,
There does not seem to be a dedicated "welcome" thread, but you all seem a jolly and friendly crowd, so I am hoping to join in.
My special interests are literature, cooking and travel, and my grandson of course!
I live on the sunny Wirral peninsula and have a ruined house in France I am restoring as a retirement project.
Looking forward to many cheerful and friendly posts.
Aurelia

Another new member here, just saying 'hi'. Saw a mention on Twitter.

I have one granddaughter who will be 5 in August and a long awaited for baby brother or sister for her in November. I looked after my granddaughter a few days of week while my daughter worked and miss having her now she's at school but we have a very close relationship. I'm hoping my daughter carries on working for a few days a week so that I can look after the grandchild.

My son is getting married end of August so who knows, hopefully more grandchildren to come!

Look forward to getting to know you all.

Hello, I`ve just joined, so am a real newbie. It`s a bit late at night now, so will probably get stuck in properly tomorrow. I`ve been married for almost 48 years (I`d have got less for murder!), and have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. I look after the youngest, now just 3, whilst my son and his wife are at work, I`ve had him since he was 8 months old, and love having him, he really lights up my days, more than any of the others, if I`m truthful, but I`m not as horrible as that makes me sound, honest!

Hi
Another newbie Grandma to Grans net thanks to the Observer. Have two lovely daughters plus 2 great sons-in-law, a fab husband that I have been married to for almost 42 years plus 3 gorgeous Grandsons of 5, 3 and 1. Looking forward to using Gransnet. Have used Mumsnet as I am a qualified Baby Massage instructor and run local classes teaching new Mums to massage their babies which is a real privilege.

Hello - just joined. I am the proud grandma of a little boy, Anthony. Born 10 weeks early, but now going like a steam train. His corrected age is now 6 weeks, and I've just finished looking after him for two nights to give my daughter a rest - I'm completely knackered! I'm looking forwards to joining in the forum. I've had a browse and it looks really good smile

hi heleena, lovely to hear from you, smile I have got quite long hair at the moment and keep thinking about having a long bob and maybe I will pluck up the courage and have it coloured at the same time go for it and have a few streaks age is only a number what does it matter as long as you are happy you sound like you like to keep young and trendy.grin

heleena Fri 03-Jun-11 17:47:50

Go for it hollie57. I had alternating red and then purple and back to red short spikey hair for a long time. I loved it. As you get older and loose the pigment in your skin it doesn't look right so go for it now. I'm 65 now and thinking about what to do with mine nextsmile. Maybe coloured streaksgrin

hollie57 Thu 02-Jun-11 23:11:07

hi harrigran, have always wanted to have purple or aubergine hair but have not got the courage and my daughter would kill me she thinks I mad already maybe when I reach 60 I might go mad and do it!!what a thrill it would be to do something outrageous for once in my life.grin
