The funny things Grandchildren say and do!

GS4 (Victoria) was watching a children's programme and asked if I watched it when I was little. I told him we didn't have a television then and he said, 'you could have downloaded it.'

But it's a lovely photo!

DS has just sent me a photo of DGD3 which I have put on my profile but I do need to explain a bit about it:
DS, DIL and their two children were having a weekend break in Llandudno. DGD was very taken with the war memorial so they spent some time talking about relatives who fought in WW2, sacrifices made etc., and why it is important to remember those who died. DGD asked to have her picture taken by the poppies. Just as DS was about to take the photo she started to giggle. Realising it was not an appropriate time to laugh, DGD tried to keep a straight face. DS tried to take the photo but eventually DGD collapsed in tears of laughter. It turned out there was an elderly man standing nearby who started to burp loudly. Every time DGD posed for the photo he did it again. In the end he did such a loud one she totally lost it. I love this photo. The innocence of youth.

We were looking after DD2's three children during a very wet and windy weekend so we watched Phantom of the Opera on DVD. I hadn't seen it before and didn't realise it gets quite scary towards the end. I told the five year old DGD not to worry because the poor man wearing a mask wasn't really angry, just a bit upset. I needn't have been concerned because at bedtime I heard DGD say to her eight year old brother, 'Let's play Phantom of the Opera, I'll be Christina and you can be Phant.'

My DGS last week to my DSiL. Dad, why don't we eat tigers? DSil ....well, we don't eat wild animals. DGS....but we eat lion! DSil.....No....they might eat them in Africa but we don't eat them. DGS.....yes we do, Mum bought some from the supermarket last week. DSiL....I think you mean pork loin!

My three year old granddaughter loves to dress up every day. Some days she asks to dress up as Snow White, others she chooses Rapunzel. My favourite is when says she asks to dress up as Sleeping Duty.

My grandson did once ask me if I was the queen. (I won't tell you what I answered. Poor confused little boy )

my grandson who is autistic but has a great and droll sense of humour told my husband he had been off school sick. My husband asked if it was serious. "beri beri serious" he said with a straight face.

my granddaughter was staying with us last week. She looked out the window and commented on our new bush in the garden - (my husband has put some rocks around it a) to try and keep the dog off it and b) to make it look a bit more interesting.

She said to me "I like your new bush Nanny"

I said "thank you darling"

she said - its just like the ones you see at the side of the road where people have died"

think we need to change the layout of it. Don't you?

My little grandson Ashley aged 5 made the comment " was I a prince when I was little?" when my daughter replied "no, why" he said, " so why is William a prince then?" My daughter confused didnt understand why he would think his little brother aged 2 was a prince. Ashley explained, "William is a prince and he is getting married tomorrow, it says so on the telly"

My granddaughter was told the day before the royal wedding that she was to be a flower girl at her uncle's wedding, she said yes she would like that but was at a loss as to what happened at a wedding. Royal wedding day saw my granddaughter sat in front of the TV watching flower girls riding in coaches and then the penny dropped, she was going to be a princess and ride in a coach with horses along with all the other trappings, she was ecstatic.
