hello everyone, wish that I understood gransnet site in more depth, I have found that in the past when I have needed someone to lean on, Gransnet members have helped. It's sad that when we are young we are invited to engagement parties, then wedding invitation, then the babies come along and there are christening get togethers but.,,,,,,,,,, unfortunately being the other end of the age bracket, no so good........ especially when the other half is taken, good grief what a difference it makes to one's life. Sorry, my intentions are not to constantly sad with my lot, there are so many widows and no doubt widowers out there which is where Gransnet is an understanding site. Just been for a wonderful 5-mle walk with the ramblers a lovely 'bunch' of people, so may I say the following: anyone feeling sad, just get yourself out there in the fresh air and walk, and walk, and walk, it's so good. Crikey I must stop writing, like so many ladies I could talk for England, apologies, hope you all enjoyed my chat, look forward to some comments. kindest regards to you all x

swansong - There are popper-inners and those that don't and wait for an invite.
How about phoning some friends and suggest popping in yourself? If you want a change of scene that's one way of doing it. They would probably be very happy that you have thought you'd like to go and see them.

Yes I am new to this site.
Dont need penpal but would like to know what others think about friends calling in for coffee!!
Have lived in Bedfordshire for 10 years now and it seems to me I am always the one to entertain friends at my home which is fine but I never seem to get a invite back to theirs. There are several friends that do this -phone and say they will pop in but quite honestly I would like a change of scenery myself and someone to offer me a coffee and I would never invite myself do others have this happen to them - let me know!!!

Sazz1 I'm from near brissel as well.
Yummy. I'm pretty new as well. Think they're harmless if bonkers .have fun I work as well and do the same as you. This site should come with a HIGHLY ADDICTIVE warning.

I'm fairly new to this site, in my 50's and I am a Grandma of 2 and a bump. I have found it really useful to get advice, or just to read other issues that are out there. I work full time too, so sneak onto the site when I get a minute to see what's happening. It's great, I feel like I have lots of new firends and acquaintances, who are around whenever I need them or to offer advice to, or just to enjoy a joke with.

Sazz1 you will have so many friends on this site and as Annobel said you can pm anyone on here and I am sure you will get a response .
We talk about anything here no hold barred just try it and see ! wink

On this site, Sazz1, you'll have hundreds of pen pals, discussing everything from the cradle to the grave, from the trivial to the - well - grave. If you want to contact anyone in particular try a pm and, you never know, it could develop into a beautiful friendship. wink

I'll second Ariadne - this is a great site.

Why not just stay with us? There's lots going on here, and the friendship is wonderful, as well as the tears and the laughter. But, on the whole, we value the anonymity that the site gives us, so you may want a more personal contact? Anyway, good to hear from you Sazz1 - stay around!

Hi everyone
Just thought I'd post this to see if anyone is interested in exchanging emails / letters from different parts of the country as this seems a safe site to post on ( some of the web ones looked a bit dodgy)
I'm a granny to 1 at the moment - soon to be 2 in April smile in my 50s and working full time still sigh.
Would love to get nice letters or emails from abroad or different parts of the UK eg Scotland / Wales / Ireland. I'm in the south west near Bristol.
Hope to hear from you all soon
