As I can't go and have afternoon tea with my D Sister today because of the snow, how about a virtual tea party? Pretty china cups, saucers and plates and flowery teapots will be the order of the day. Unfortunately I've only got 6 in my Royal Worcester tea set. I have a bone chine teapot ,white with violets. Can anyone supply some more crockery? What shall we have to eat? I have a cucumber in the fridge.

Just got here - took GD to lunch and indulged myself - risotto followed by tiramisu, so haven't much room for a crumpet. I've brought my Darjeeling if anyone would like to try it - very delicate flavour. Oh, thanks, Carol, I won't say no to some Earl Grey - no milk for me.

Annika Sun 05-Feb-12 16:00:39

Now are there any sandwhiches with the crusts off , I know I should eat the crusts but I don't want curly hair !

lucid Sun 05-Feb-12 15:58:12

Many thanks for the delicious tea and crumpets but I really have to get back now....have a lovely afternoon ....don't sit too near the fire or you'll get chilblains!

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 15:57:19

Ooops! I'd better stay here now - fresh tea, anyone? Lemon in yours, Butternut? So posh!

Annika Sun 05-Feb-12 15:55:57

Budge up I need to get near that fire I am froze, its been a long journey but I got here at last, now did some one say there was some champers about , I will have a wine or two please ! grin

Jacey Sun 05-Feb-12 15:55:33

Sorry I'm late ...there were lots of guards out ...think they might suspect something!!

Thanks Butternut for the crumpet ...here's the honey.

Aren't these cups lovely ...just what I needed a cup of Earl Grey.

Carol ...I wouldn't risk a wander around ...those dogs looked mean.

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 15:54:32

Nice to see so many of us have made it. There's plenty for everyone. I've just had a nosy round the sitting room next door and found these Duchy Originals shortbreads - help yourself! Mmmmmm!

lucid Sun 05-Feb-12 15:51:44

I say do you have any of those buttery crumpets to spare......

lucid Sun 05-Feb-12 15:51:03

I've just popped in for a quick cuppa during the half time break.....can't stay long though as it is a good match.smile

Faye Sun 05-Feb-12 15:50:34

I had drifted off to sleep for a bit but am awake now and waiting to be let in and looking forward to a cup of tea and chocolate muffins. My goodness how ever do you breathe in this weather, it's so bloody cold frightfully chilly. smile

bagitha Sun 05-Feb-12 15:49:22

Mind you don't drip butter through the crumpets or they'll know we've been here. I lurve the way butter drips through crumpets.

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 15:48:10

Have a sandwich Butternut. Is there some Boiling Broonie on that cake stand? I'll have a slice with some 'best' butter on it.

Butternut Sun 05-Feb-12 15:39:54

I'll toast the crumpets - fancy a sit down!

Butternut Sun 05-Feb-12 15:39:03

Phew! It's a long cold journey from France, but here I am.............with spotty mug.

How comfy and warm it it - I saw the flag flying so thought someone would be in for tea.

carol - I'm starving - any of those delicious sandwiches left - the posh ones with the crusts off? grin

I am posh as I take tea with lemon instead of milk (I've bought my lemons), but have it in a mug instead - does that un-posh me?? wink

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 15:36:53

Just found a toasting fork for those crumpets. Who fancies browning them whilst we let the others in. Be as quiet as you can - no-one knows we're here. I must say, I didn't expect this turkish rug to be quite so shabby....! I wonder if the rest of the place looks like this. Might have a little wander round later......!

nanachrissy Sun 05-Feb-12 15:32:39

Am I too late? I've got my Earl Grey tea and some light as a feather fairy cakes with pink icing, and my china mug!
I could murder a chunk small slice of chocolate cake.wink

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 15:32:31

Tea, anyone? I do love a nice cup of tea in china cups. Salmon sandwich? Shove another log on that fire absent it's cold out there - I haven't seen a soul around, so we might as well settle in and get comfy.

absentgrana Sun 05-Feb-12 15:30:44

Sorry I'm late but I've been making preserves all day and have only just finished clearing up. Here's a jar of home-made crab apple jelly and another one of apple & blackberry cheese – nice with scones or crumpets.

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 15:28:37

Pssstt...!! Jacey...NO! don't say anything....I've managed to scramble over a wall into Sandringham and I've lit a fire in the library. Can you get over here with your cake stands and honey? I've put the kettle on - tell the others to watch out we don't get caught!

Jacey Sun 05-Feb-12 15:24:15

Come on Hunt and Chocolatepudding where are you??

We're all organised ...venue? time? If it's still 3pm I'm going to be late! grin

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 13:46:06

Does that mean no library with roaring fire?

If so, what about one of the unoccupied suites at Windsor Castle or Sandringham? The royals can't possibly be using all of them and we could soon put a match to a ready-prepared fire. Shall we?

Elegran Sun 05-Feb-12 13:43:05

One of us could take in a rope ladder wound round us under our jumper, and let it down to the rest waiting below with the grub. It will have to be the slimmest or they will suspect. Oh, forgot, you only get on the ground floor now so if we get seats near the window we can slip things in that way.

I just looked up their website, afternoon tea is £18 a head (£28 if you have champagne with it) so I don't think I'll be a paying customer.

The waiters and waitresses are very attentive so we may have to stash everything in our handbags. Don't put too much cream on the scones.

The loos are very swish.

Carol Sun 05-Feb-12 13:22:38

Elegran the library and roaring fire sounds just perfect, but would we have to smuggle in all our food and china? I'm willing to hang out of the library window and lower down a basket, if everyone else will take the risk?

jeni Sun 05-Feb-12 13:08:18

I can bring my Dunoon mug with a skeleton and musculature on it.
I can't type any more today as seem to have ?gout in my index finger proximal mcp joint. It hurts
I'll be good and read my files instead!

Faye Sun 05-Feb-12 12:44:29
