I am a great admirer of Matt, even though I have stopped buying the actual paper (now £1.20 on a weekday) I always have a look on-line in my lunch break.

For me, the beauty of his cartoons are the fact that they are never cruel, but usuallly witty!

Imagine the pressure of having to come up with something topical, day after day? No wonder that he has won Cartoonist of the Year Award so many times.

I expect you saw last time Matt was away they printed Matt cartoons of a man trying to put up a deck chair with all the possible variations; then in the last one he was lying down on the flat deck chair, arms folded, resigned.

I can hardly think of an occasion when I have NOT liked the Matt cartoon! And sometimes he has a SECOND one tucked away inside - bonus!
The 3 saddest words I can think of are "Matt is away"!
