For me, it would the late Jimmy Seville, Cliff Richards, John Redwood, John Prescott, the Pope, Noel Edmonds and Ricky Gervais and Putin and all the Republican presidential candidates.

David Attenborough, John Humphreys, Richard Dawkins.

A facebook post once asked which man/men would you like to keep in a cupboard. Deciding that they must be useful as well as eye candy , my 3 were;
Gino de Campo to do the cooking (but i pressed send before I realised I had left an 'o' out of cooking !!!!)
Diarmuid Gavin to do the Garden
George Clark to renovate the house !!!

and George Clooney is welcome any time !!!!

Greatnan Tue 20-Mar-12 18:35:40

I believe Alan Titchmarsh is still available!

Annobel Tue 20-Mar-12 17:52:10

Most of the Classic FM presenters seem to have a smirk in their voices, if you see what I mean.

artygran Tue 20-Mar-12 17:28:16

Sorry about Monty, chaps, but I'm he's just that little bit too smiley; like John Suchet on Classic FM - it's like being drowned in warm marshmallow! I like my gardeners with a bit more of a rough edge! Unfortunately, all the horny handed toilers of television yore appear to be dead now.

Annobel Tue 20-Mar-12 13:01:33

How could I have forgotten Clarkson and Morgan?

shysal Tue 20-Mar-12 12:50:56

Jeremy Clarkson , Piers Morgan and most of the antique experts on Dickinson's Real Deal

jeni Tue 20-Mar-12 12:36:07

Anyone who's over obsequious! Reminds me of Uriah Heap!

glammanana Tue 20-Mar-12 11:34:46

Don't worry about George Anagram I was the other side of the fence to catch him !!!

Carol Tue 20-Mar-12 11:24:54

Threw him Anagram? I gently tipped him, although I did fall off the ladder and he dropped quite a few feet, but that wasn't deliberate. Ooops! grin

Anagram Tue 20-Mar-12 11:22:30

I don't think his back would be up to it after you threw him over Jack's fence, Carol!

I didn't know Mr Tumble was gay - or perhaps it's just Justin Fletcher who is?

Carol Tue 20-Mar-12 11:17:53

Converted to what kitty? And George? I thought George was straight, and if Mr Tumble is gay, he is a great find for some lucky gay man! Actually, I think George might be entering a period of celibacy after the weekend he's just endured enjoyed with me and jack. grin

greenmossgiel Tue 20-Mar-12 11:10:51

That's good to hear about Ricky Tomlinson - the fact that he raises money quietly for the Children's Hospice, glamma. He's definitely gone back up in my estimation now. smile I once bought some gammon steak things from Farmfoods and they were AWFUL!! They were so salty, that I had to boil them first - and they were still horrid confused!

kittylester Tue 20-Mar-12 11:10:24

I too love Mr Tumble - but, ladies, do you think he needs to be converted? wink Maybe George does too, (ducks behind sofa, quick) My sons had a French teacher who was a real loss to womankind, too!

On the subject of creeps - Robert Peston is my number one - yuck!

mickey Tue 20-Mar-12 11:06:02

while I remember-have you noticed how BBC presenters smirk obsequiesly when any royals are mentioned-reminds me of Mr Collins in Pride and Prejudice.

Greatnan Tue 20-Mar-12 11:01:09

Please, ladies, no unseemly fighting over Monty Don - you were bad enough about George Clooney!

Carol Tue 20-Mar-12 10:13:38

Mony Don???? He's fabulous! My ideal man - a bit rustic looking, handy around the garden and very laid back smile

Annobel Tue 20-Mar-12 10:11:54

Howls of protest! Not Monty Don, Arty! A useful man who's easy on the eye? What's not to like?

artygran Tue 20-Mar-12 10:02:20

I can't bear to be in the same room when Alex Salmond is on TV - and Monty Donn.

Greatnan Tue 20-Mar-12 09:54:05

I can't always give a reason for finding someone creepy - it is just instinct sometimes.
I don't trust men with soft, plump hands, for example - might be a throwback to the feelings I had about a lot of priests in my childhood.

glammanana Tue 20-Mar-12 09:30:15

So agree about the ads annobel they are pretty dreadful who on earth wants 3 bags of skinny see through pork chops!!!

Annobel Tue 20-Mar-12 09:23:32

Good for you, glamma. I am sure that many of the people we have mentioned do have this side to them that we don't know about. I have no strong objection to Ricky Tomlinson except for his Farm Foods advertisements which I think are pretty horrible.

Tosh Tue 20-Mar-12 09:22:47

My hubby has a ''list'' ...forunately we agree on most but we are not allowed to watch a number of TV programmes........let's add ;
Chris Tarrant and Nick Knowles (and the way he says .....'thousand pounds !!!')

Isn't it lovely to be a ''Grumpy Old Woman'' and not give a damn !!!!

glammanana Tue 20-Mar-12 09:15:03

So many people that you don't think of until you read the posts, and I agree with a vast majority of them,Ricky Tomlinson seems to have two sides to him the actor/comedian side which can be very close to the bone when it comes to his humour depending how you take the content, and the very different compassionate side which supports the local Childrens Hospice here on The Wirral with his very generous support, he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to his charity work which he does without too much publicity.

shysal Tue 20-Mar-12 08:49:32

greatnan I am loving this thread! I thought I was unusual in my intolerance, but I agree with practically every one of the posts. Most of us are grumpy old women when we want to be I suspect. It is quite entertaining to be bitchy sometimes. Butter wouldn't melt at other times of course! blush
