grin I thought you were looking for annoying fans of Countdown, Nellie...!

I have almost given up watching Countdown because Nick was so useless. I think I posted on another thread about this.

I gave up watching when Des Lynam took over, went back when it was Des O`Connor, then left when the other fella, can`t remember his name, took over, he annoyed me, as does the new letters and numbers girl, won`t be watching anymore. Really, Countdown should have died with Richard Whitely, he WAS Countdown.

Don't worry, nelliedeane - you are not the only one who has computer problems!
I watch Countdown every day because I like to do the number rounds - and I get a kick out of getting a better word than Dictionary Corner (it doesn't happen very often). I went off Carole Vorderman because I thought she got too big for her boots, and I do like Rachel , even if she is young, pretty, clever and engaged to a millionaire!
I love Susie Dent, she is so self-effacing and modest. Some of the guests are very good (Phil Hammond?) and some are just irritating (the magician and most sportsmen).
I didn't know who the new chairman was, as I have never watched The Apprentice (I hate Alan Sugar) but I don't think he has the right personality for Countdown.
Has anyone else noticed the preponderance of boys, many of whom seem to be suffering from some degree of autism? I wonder why girls don't enter, as they are outdoing boys at every stage of education.

Thank you greatnan, countdown is my guilty pleasure,I like the numbers and try to out wit dictionary corner Susie Dent is lovely, get the feeling she may be married to the annoying magician..I did google it but no information was forthcoming,Rachel is very clever and is an Essex girl like myself,my favourite guest is Dr Phil Hammond.
I agree with you, some of the young men do lead me to wonder if they have social problems, think the girls, are brighter but too busy pursuing a social life to take part..a countdown teapot is not on their list of achievments.

Some of the young men (and two in particular) who have done well in Countdown have shown up in a number of other TV quiz shows. On The Weakest Link, Pointless, Mastermind and Only Connect I have seen familiar faces. They are evidently trying to become Eggheads!

Nick seems a bit awkward in the role. Perhaps he'll grow into it. I think Margaret might have been better with her raised eyebrow and steely smile grin
