Household bugs n things in Ghana

Hello All,

I will be going to live in Ghana in West Africa and during previous visits we had all types of 'nasty' creepy bugs in the house although I make sure that food is not left out and the rubbish is cleared. There are even around the light bubs, and i hate them.
I would appreciate it if you would share with me your 'homemade' remedy,or other products that 'you' have used with success.

I read somewhere that using a 'yellow' bulb will deter 'bugs' because they cannot see the light! Has anyone tried this with satisfaction?Also suggestions for keeping 'weebles' out of flour, cereal, cupboards. etc
