As per the Stella McCartney thread I suggested this thread suggested by a Woody Allen character in Annie Hall. Who or indeed what in your opinion deserves a place in the HOTVOR.
Here are a few of mine to start off;

Stella McCartney
David Bowie
Tom Cruise

Lowrie,Picasso, give me a Constable or Turner any day. Jazz music and Jeremy Paxman.

Love Paxo clever guy bit sexy too but Jeremy Clarkson what is the purpose of that rude man- FETCH ME THE GUN!

PRINTMISS Thu 29-Mar-12 16:00:25

Here here, with Jeremy Clarkson - what exactly does he do, except incite motorists to to mad brain things? which I am sure the youngsters of today follow - just don't get me started!

flowerfriend Thu 29-Mar-12 16:09:34

I just want to say I find Jeremy Paxman sexy too.

Overrated - that is all the men on Top Gear and the programme.

Bruce Forsyth - sorry, Brucie - I think you are past your use-by date. Retire to the golf course, please.

Perhaps GN had better delete my post about Michael Parkinson! I might have dreamed that up - and I might get sued! shock

Or GN might. grin

Anagram Thu 29-Mar-12 16:52:14

I think you might get away with it, jing! You did put a question mark at the end...wink

Elegran Thu 29-Mar-12 17:06:19

I think I remember a cod news rumour about Michael Parkinson and (could have been ) Esther Rantzen having a love child. On reading further it transpired that they were two pigs (porcine) called MP and ER who had had a litter.

But that could be a false memory caused by a senior moment.

wotsamashedupjingl Thu 29-Mar-12 17:11:14

I definitely wasn't thinking of that Elegran! grin

feetlebaum Thu 29-Mar-12 17:15:30

I have to say that David Bowie is Vastly Overrated... I have a copy of tghe Jim Henson film 'Labyrinth' in which Bowie looks good in his part, and gets away with the acting (just) - but they have his sing every so often -- fortunately the film is on VHS tape, so I can fast forward through his abysmal vocalizing - he's one of the 'emetic' school - sounds as though he's about to toss his cookies any minute. but is holdng on for now... Brian Ferrie is another.

And Dame Shirley Bassey - boy, when she hits a note... she's so close

Elegran Thu 29-Mar-12 17:15:55

I tried googling but could find no trace of the spoof I was talking about. Maybe I was imagining it!

Anagram Thu 29-Mar-12 17:18:51

They probably had to remove it, Elegran, after Michael Parkinson sued them....wink

Elegran Thu 29-Mar-12 17:27:17

Someone, somewhere, will remember it! If it ever existed.

Ariadne Thu 29-Mar-12 17:33:44

Thesesus (aka Mr A) suggests the English cricket team, and especially Kevin Petersen. Yawn....

wotsamashedupjingl Thu 29-Mar-12 17:37:51

Quoting feetlebaum "when she hits a note... she's so close" grin grin

Annobel Thu 29-Mar-12 17:54:10

Ariadne I do agree with Theseus and I am sure my DS2 will be sounding off about the English cricket team if he rings me from the car on his way home as he often does to pass the time on his commute.

merlotgran Thu 29-Mar-12 20:31:36

Bruce Springsteen - The only person, in my opinion, who's allowed to sound like he needs a good gargle is Joe Cocker.

I still have a huge soft spot for Paul McCartney but am starting to worry that he is beginning to look like a ventriloquist's dummy. As for releasing songs from the American song book....he should have left it to Rod Stewart who can still sing.

May I add Davina McCall? That voice when it`s at full throttle!!!!!

FlicketyB Thu 29-Mar-12 20:59:09

Stephen Fry. He started well but he is now his greatest admirer and has become a self satisfied bore.

Ricky Gervais Cruelty and humiliation is NOT funny

Russell Brand poser

Under-rated?

Hugh Laurie

NannaJeannie Thu 29-Mar-12 21:42:03

overated - Tom Jones, Picasso, Shakespeare, foreign holidays in the sun, anything to do with pampering, Harry Hill, Facebook, smartphones, having a tidy house, cricket, Starbucks, Kate Moss, The Rolling Stones, Opera.

I have seen Paul McCartney live 3 times, once in 1962, once in 1963 and lastly in 2008 in Liverpool Capital of Culture, that was one of the best experiences of my life (can't remember much about the first two occasions I screamed myself hysterical both times).

Of course its all subjective, thats what makes us all individuals

granbunny Thu 29-Mar-12 22:22:48

mcartney. bowie is actually good and shakespeare is seriously old.

crimson Thu 29-Mar-12 22:43:27

I've always thought the same of McCartney, until I saw the film Nowehere Boy and part of the film about George Harrison the other week, and realised how gifted a musician he was when he was young. Most creative people lose that creativity by the time they're in their twenties, and eventually become a parody of themselves. McCartney, jowly old man with a baby face, singing Mull of Kintyre and the Frog Song; Elvis the fat guy in the sparkly one piece suit etc. I guess that's why real icons die young. But I sometimes wonder what it must be like to create something new because I would never in a million years be able to do so, and they have. Sorry; late night ramblings. And, who am I talk, having just decided that I like Englebert Humperdinck confused.....

Anagram Thu 29-Mar-12 22:54:48

Annika, you've just inspired me!

Mama Mia - all that hype for a mediocre semi-musical with naff acting...
