Well having left the house on Friday morning, arrived in Sydney breakfast time SUnday. Air NZ fantastic. Lovely new plane with a touch screen you can use to order cuppa and shortbread. Oh mugs of tea, not mini cups.
You know you are on the other side of the planet when you are sitting alongside an enormous man in a skirt, with an elaborate straw mat tied around his middle.
Now trying to stay awake - and the good news is there is wifi in DS's house, at last!

Glad you arrived safely JessM smile
Your thread title did conjure up a few unusual thoughts though!

G'day JessM glad you have enjoyed your trip Down Under! I'll be going in 2 week's time like you to visit DS, DIL and DGS. As you say most of the year I'm a Skype nanny then it's an intense couple of weeks then back to be a virtual granny! Have a great time! smile

Give my love to New Zealand, Jess! I am interested to hear that you like Air NZ - I have tried Cathay Pacific (horrible pod seats) and Singapore Airlines (ruined two suitcases), so Air NZ is next on my list!

Air NZ must have improved since I was last on it, though I think they put the worst aircraft on the Hong Kong route for some reason.

All Australia beach volleyball on the beach yesterday. One bunch of fit women. Competitors vying for a place on The Team. Lots of people on the prom watching. In the crowd there was a young Buddhist monk videoing the volleyball. I wanted to take a photo (back view) of this but my GD told me I should not take pictures of people in Australia!

I flew Air New Zealand part of the way on my last trip to NZ (mostly Singapore Airlines/Star Alliance). I had the worst cup of tea of my entire life and don't reckon much on their comfort, meals or service - and I fly business class. This time I flew Emirates, which I reckon was pretty good - although not as good as Singapore Airlines.

Just back from a great trip to NZ...want to go back now!Flew with Etihad...5 hour delay flying out so missed connection but they did a good hotel stay in Abu Dhabi en route for Sydney. Flight back was good and far,far too much to eat. Only downside is that the journey isn't evenly split...14 hours back to AD.
Big congratulations absent hope the cold gets better soon.

Australia is firmly on our list! The Rotary International Convention is in Sydney in a couple of years' time, so we will combine that with a longer trip. Can't wait (DV)

Meanwhile, must get on with selling this place and heading for Devon!
