Gracesmum, I have no more idea than you have what a 'lowe' is! Tried Googling it, but no luck. Any other Scots or Scottish residents?

I went went on a walking holiday in the Lakes some years ago, organised by a coach company. We stayed close to the osprey nesting site, but the itinerary did not allow time to visit the viewing centre. We did, however, get dropped at places for shopping after nearly every walk! I was so disappointed, but did at least see a fly-past by one of the birds whilst travelling.

Annobel - what is a "lowe"? I ask bcause we have a "Loch of the Lowes" near Selkirk where I was brought up

My (very expensive) dentist has earned a few brownie points by having a webcam in his nesting box and that's what I'm watching as he digs around in my mouth. smile

Fantastic, thank you for the link annobel I have put it on my favourites.

This year we have put a webcam in our birdbox and are hoping to see baby blue tits. They have just started to put in nesting material. Fingers crossed.

I was interested to hear, when I visited last year, that they used divots from the nearby golf course as building material. Crafty birds!

Aren't we privileged to live in an age where we can sit at home (in the warmth) and watch an osprey nest building in Scotland? Fantastic.

I've visited this place to see the ospreys and also one in The Lakes. This is lovely to watch - thanks!

....the ospreys' nest at Loch of the Lowes in Perthshire. The Lady, as they call her, is believed to be in her mid 20s and the oldest female osprey in Britain. She comes back to the same nest every year and has had a succession of mates. This year she has a rather handsome new toy boy who brings her fish from the nearby loch. Last year's eggs didn't hatch - better luck this time, Lady. The web cam is wonderfully sited to give a great view of their activities.
